The first round of those medal presentations on Monday will honour such notable Canadians as national newscasters Peter Mansbridge and Lloyd Robertson, dance legend Karen Kain and folk-music icon Gordon Lightfoot.

Media Advisory - Lieutenant Governor Presents Diamond Jubilee Medals
TORONTO, Feb. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, is pleased to announce the inaugural presentation of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to a distinguished group of Ontarians. The Lieutenant Governor will present these historic medals at a ceremony in the Vice-Regal Suite on Monday, February 6, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.
The Diamond Jubilee medals were created by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, approved by The Queen, and manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint. They were established to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the throne, and are presented to celebrate the tremendous achievements and contributions Canadians have made to their country.
