Very sad to hear this news last night.
If you haven't been down in the bowels of the earth it's hard to grasp the smell there is, feel the dampness and the claustrophobia. Miners are a special breed of people and their families face the fear of mine explosions every day. adly, safety is not always of paramount concern for the owners of mines.

that must have been devastating for loved ones (and worldwide followers) who had their hopes dangling for what must have seemed like an eternity...makes you realize further what slim odds were overcome in the Chilean event

i'd heard that #29 twice on the news in one single telecast last weekend...the other was a happy ending in China

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/as...353014505.html

not many may realize 2600 miners lost lives in China last year, typical in those parts apparently...although the Fitz became a well known disaster (with 'some' thanks to Gord), perhaps not many realize how extensive deaths on the Great Lakes have been over the century...in both cases, a horrible cost of doing business and a way of life that keep food on the table and families clothed

lt's hope for some feel good stories as the holidays approach...there's no shortage of feel bad stories in Toronto area lately (pedestrians getting hit with vehicles and teens getting hit with bullets, at record setting paces...)

have a safe long weekend America and save me some leftovers

mende, when is Aussie Thanksgiving or does nothing grow in the sand?

ps)
char, i LOVE when my plane touches ground or when i resurface from the Subway!
