Here is one Gord did with Bill Bennett in the summer of 2006, just before his concert at The Wolftrap the following night, that you may have not heard John.

Has anyone else heard of this. Could it be that they are repeating the interview that Gord and Barry Keane did.

Re: Lightfoot on the FAN 590 Dec21 7-9 pm
OH SHEESH...you guys nearly gave me a heart attack!! It's 7:30pm and I called down to my son to try to see if he could pick up the FAN so we could catch Gordon. We usually can't get it here in Eastern CT. He ran up here and then we're both looking at one another and at the same time said, "What would be be doing on the FAN?" .
So he went over to the PC and saw this post -that it was the FAN 590 in Canada and not our the FAN 660 out of NY . I was all set to get on the phone and call Bob Huessler!

Fan 590 Chat
Great Canadian author Pierre Berton wrote the two volume works, 'The National Dream' and 'The Last Spike' about the construction of the Canadian National Railroad. Gord spoke of a meeting where Pierre, seated in front of him, turned around and said "you said more about the railway in your song (CRT) than I did in my two volumes" (paraphrased).
I just loved that!!!

Re: Lightfoot on the FAN 590 Dec21 7-9 pm
Gord's fave XMAS carol-Silent Night..by a choir.
Barry said "The Christmas Song" by Mel Torme and Gord said that was a song, not a carol..
lol

Congrats Char! Good to hear you on CFRB last week and The FAN 590 this evening.
There's no hiding it. Gord is obviously delighted to hear your voice.

Re: Lightfoot on the FAN 590 Dec21 7-9 pm
oh I don't know about that Yuri..I said Hi and he said "hi Char.. talk to Barry!"
lol
the funny thing was that I called to speak to Barry about his baseball and a song request anyway.!
And I sure hope he does twist Gord's arm to include "I'll Tag Along" in the rotation during the 2008 tour. Gord said he'd probably include it in the 2nd set - first song I think he said..

Well, I managed to get on and compliment Barry and Gordon for being so generous with their time backstage in signing autographs, posing for photos, etc. Gordon also said he'll be doing his traditional midnight Christmas thing at some unnamed church. Should be a treat for whoever's there!

Re: Lightfoot on the FAN 590 Dec21 7-9 pm
He's been doing the Christmas thing for years, probably at his local UCC (United Church of Canada). He sang at the Orillia UCC as a boy in their choir.
I had to giggle at the fan who had been at the Orillia concert the day before Gord's collapse and had been equally annoyed at the fellow yelling out for Cotton Jenny, who said he'd recognize him if he saw the guy again, and offered to pop him one - Gord said (laughing) no, he's forgiven.

Yeah, that was one long skein ... they were on for pretty well the whole three hours, so lots for Lightfoot fans to digest.

THREE hours? on my watch 7-9 is two hours! Anyway apropos the earlier broadcast:-
I have just researched the CFRB site (or is it CRFB)??
and on:-
http://www.cfrb.com/shows/501346
I read:-
"Sunday, December 30th: 2007 Rock Talk Year in Review
Re-live the most memorable moments of the past 51 shows, including:
Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, Queen)
Burton Cummings & Randy Bachman
Gordon Lightfoot
Slash
Murray McLauchlan
Sylvia Tyson
Pattie Boyd (ex-wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton)
Marc Cohn ("Walking In Memphis")
Mark Hudson (Hudson Brothers, producer, songwriter)
... and lots more! Repeating New Year's Day from 5:00 - 6:00 PM.
Special thanks to CFRB Technical Producers Matt Empacher, Jeff Moss, Nick Mairano, Paul Gatt and McKay Taggart for their invaluable assistance in 2007!"
BUT is there no any revidence of fan590 repeating yesterday's interview.
However a google for "fan590 gordon lightfoot" proved fruitful because on
http://www.rogerlajoie.com/fan590.htm
I found this photograph there already already
caption:-
Canadian music icon Gordon Lightfoot visited Norm Rumack and Roger recently on The Fan 590
so whoever is running that website is really on the ball!!

Re: Lightfoot on the FAN 590 Dec21 7-9 pm
yeah, the specific church he sings at Christmas Eve has been mentioned in articles, threads either here or at newgroup archives but I agree that it would be ashamed for it to be swarmed by the masses (no pun intended ), it's a wee community thing, nice
I was recalling that the 2 radio stations dad would have me listening to during car rides in old hockey playing road trip days were CJCL and CFRB (back then they played 'old people' music) and all I really wanted to hear were the hits on CHUM or CFTR
anyhow, the formats have changes over the years but ironically it's good ol' 590 and 1010 who I have to thank for these last 2 very lengthy interviews...alot of laffs and digested many things I'd not heard before
I thought both these stations could be listened to by all fans via the internet, no?
the segments were so long that they didn't fit on tape (I wasn't present to monitor the task) or I'd convert and post...hopefully the station wedsites will make them available as was the case prior, fun stuff and Gord never sounded stronger, he convinced me that his rehab is a ghost of the past
