Anyone know why GL re-recorded more recent tunes for this album/CD and kept some really old ones intact? I wish he'd put the original "Wreck" on there which is more dramatic than the re-make. But he kept the original "It's Worth Believin'" (maybe because they don't play that anymore?) He kept "Cape Horn" intact from 1980 and re-recorded songs from "Shadows" of 1982. Just wondering.

If my memory serves me correctly, the record album "Gord's Gold 2" did not have "It's Worth Believin'" or "Ghosts of Cape Horn" on it. These were additional bonus tracks which were only available on the cassette tape. So, I believe that these tracks were added to the completed album as a bonus. They were not intended for the record album.

That's what I have is the cassette tape and they were probably on the CD as well.

Yes Sidney, and I'm assuming its a CD. I double checked my memory by looking on www.lightfoot.ca. The information on that album supports what I've already stated.

Yes, the two additional tunes were bonus tracks for the new CD/tape buying public, as a calculated effort to phase records out was beginning in 1988 at the time of GGII's release. As for the re-recordings of these songs, I've always heard that Gord didn't like to listen to his old recordings, so he re-recorded them as he had for disc 1 of GGI back in 1975.

My GG2 album has Make Way For The Lady, Ghosts of Cape Horn, Baby Step Back, and It's Worth Believin'. Those were the 4 tracks that were lifted off the previous albums; the rest of them were re-recorded.

Yes, if you think about it, GGII is consistant with GGI in the re-recording of some of the material. I suspect that even if Gord was happy with the origional versions that eventually appeared on II, he would have re-recorded them just to be consistant with I. His mind just works that way!
