In the 'Songbook' liner notes, Gord refers to "Early Morning Rain" as "the one Elvis covered." That's true, but Elvis also covered for "For Lovin' Me," which Gord doesn't mention in the liner notes. He seems awfully proud that Elvis recorded "Early Morning Rain." Is it possible that Gord doesn't know that Elvis covered "For Lovin' Me"?

For a moment I thought W.C. had made an error but after discography searching I found that Elvis did in fact cover,"For Lovin' Me".

It was recorded in Nashville in March of 1971 and was later put out on an RCA lp simply titled "Elvis" in July of 1973. Good catch W.C.!!

Maybe Gordon is aware of it but maybe not. Besides,by 1971,"a lot" of folks had covered that song.

Being a big Elvis fan, it was his version of "For Lovin' Me" which compelled me to hear more of Lightfoot's songs! Elvis does a lovely upbeat version, although he does miss a verse.
