I was reading the book in Bob Dylan’s Biograph today (refreshing my memory ‘cos I went to see him in concert last week – at least, I think it was him!!????) and came across this quote from him:-
Some guys got it down (fame) – Leonard Cohen, Paul Brady, Lou Reed, David Allen
Coe, Tom Waits….. I listen more to that kind of stuff than whatever is popular at the moment…..Gordon Lightfoot, every time I hear a song of his, it’s like I wish it would last forever.
What a beautiful tribute from a friend.

Whilst on the subject of Dylan, I saw him last tuesday at the Brixton Academy in London, and he was fantastic. Apparently he performed Gord's "I'm Not Supposed To Care" in concert a few years back, I believe there's definitely a mutual admiration between the two.

Dan, did he pick up his guitar at Brixton?
At the Birmingham NEC the damn thing just stood in the centre of the stage - he didn't touch it once, just stayed at the keyboard all night. That's why I popped in the question marks.
Having said that, it was an amazing concert.
The encore, with All Along The Watchtower at the end, - well, the vibrations just went right through to the very centre of my bones.
Fantastic!

To the people that went to see dylan last week....
If you guys saw the Brixton, Hammerstein and Sheppards Bush shows - YOU ARE A BUNCH OF LUCKY BUGGERS!
those shows were complete different to the rest of the eruopean tour. the setlists were thrown out the window and he played a stack of rarites:
jokerman - first time since 1998
tough mama - since 2001
million miles - since 2001
romance in durango - since 1976!!!!
yeh! heavy and a bottle of bread - second time ever
as for the guitar and piano, he started on the piano in october last year. those shows were half piano and half guitar. in australia and newzealnd this year, about 80% piano. during the middle of this year he hardly touches the guitar but its always there.
recently he's been known to switch from one instrument to the other.
but anyway, consider yourselves lucky - those shows weren't standard ones - they were special among dylan fans

Hi, Bob played "Boots of Spanish Leather" on guitar, besides that he was bopping behind his keyboard all night!

"Jokerman" is a video I saw with Mr. Dylan back in 1983/84 on our local music video station channel 61! It was the 1st time I'd ever seen what he looked like! I'd heard his songs on oldies stations but never would've imagined he looked the way he did.
Earlier this year,I finally bought The Best Of Bob Dylan Pt. 1 on CD. I'm still aiming to get the other 2 parts.
Also,I have no doubts about Gordon and Bobs "mutual admiration". Gord mentioned him as an influence when I saw him in concert last year. He was about to sing,"Ring Them Bells" and he joked that the song was written by a guy named Bob...something. Bob? Hmmm. Very funny. Later!
