I am posting this here instead of on the small talk forum as it is IMHO rather important
Did anybody else here have a problem with corfid last Saturday??
I did for most of the day
It may well have been my computer but I did nothing untoward honest
I assumed it was because Florian was tinkering with the forum's program(me).
But after I enlisted Char's help to contact the man he promptly denied doing anything and suggested it was a problem with my
computer's cookies but I had not touched them (in this house I am banned from sampling cookies of any description!!
I actually had three problems:-
1. I had not logged out for a long time but when I tried to be rude yet again to that insufferable fool down in Sydney it curtly said I couldn't as I was not logged in.Then when I did log in it conspired to simultaneously thank me for logging in whilst still claiming that I was not logged in. Had I not made a screenshot at the time I would have asumed I was going mad..
Oh do shut up Steve!! this is the
EVIDENCE:-
In case it was because the profile/membership database gubbins had got corrupted I decided to try to register under a different name but after four times completing the registration form accurately and as far as I was concerned completely it then told me to go and boil my head comprehensively because as you can see it warned me:-
2."you must provide values for all required fields including your preferences:-
PROOF:-
I had just done exactly that albeit leaving a very few options that I did not want unchecked.
So I checked every sodden box but no matter what I did it steadfastly refused to register me
3.I was able to read the various topics but I could not help noticing that all the actual posting dates and times were missing.
Again a screenshot as proof of my sanity
Belt up you stoopid Sydney parasite!!
EXAMPLE:-
John Fowles
Eventually faults 1 and 3 became corrected
but fault 2 I just rechecked is still there
Florian please check else we will not get any new registrants!!
Now tell me did anyone else see this??

No problems from Sydney.
Good detective work BILLW, but while renowned worldwide as a slow payer I doubt that was the problem this time in the Master's case.
As we know of course, advances in software never cease. Inspector Stevo has established Florian has undoubtedly installed the latest software to detect and block those with a history of snore inducing posts and/or being a right, not very royal pain in the gluteal regions.
Mr Fowles could not get in... Enough said. Seems to work well wouldn't you say ?...
This product below is a primitive version of the new software but only works in person , thus is of no use to most Corfid folk against such problem cases.....

Very droll punk
who is calling who what??

but just in case anybody thought that Stevo had been super clever in devising this gadget
My own detective work revealed that he stole the picture from:-
http://www.worth1000.com
and for the umpteenth time he did not have the gumption nay sense to display it directly
No yet again he uneccessarily uploaded it to poor old imageshack
what a prize dolt or "berk" (Cockney rhyming slang for "Berkshire Hunt")
John Fowles
Still I get that restless feelin when I hear a whistle blast
See an image from the past
Of an old schooner flyin down a sky thats overcast
OR:-
He is the image of Alberta
The side street near Chicago
The grim beauty of Toronto
He is an artist painting sistine masterpieces of pine and fur and backwoods
Still echos long ago the winter night of black july and then the outcome
Of an early cleveland rainfall

Hmmm, I guess everyone's "funny bone" is indeed located in different spots, because I don't find Steve's intentional unkindness towards John (here or in any of the other threads) the least bit laughable or humorous.
Maybe some of John's posts are more detailed than the average person has time to spend comprehending, but his research and detailed offerings are done with the best of intentions and kindest of hearts. Since his stroke, typing is more of a challenge for John, so the fact that he spends this time typing information in the hopes that even one person will find it useful, is definitely a nice gesture that does not deserve ridicule from anyone.
To me "intent" is far more important than "content" - so I'd rather see John's detailed instructionals from the heart (even if I don't have time to sit down right then and fully digest them) than to see Steve's sorry attempts at being funny that are nothing more than him just being plain ol' mean.
Now, if I have totally misunderstood what's going on and John and Steve are best buds just picking on each other, than I apologize to you both - but I still don't find it funny.

There's nothing at all funny in my comment, Watchman, but I'm glad it gave you a chuckle I *don't* find the humor in Steve's comments, but if I inaccurately accused him of being nothing more than a school yard bully when this is just some private joke between the two of them carried out in a public forum, of course I apologize for that and in future will just not find the humor, in silence.
As it happens, I've since found out that this exchange is indeed a private joke between them. So, while I'm somewhat relieved to hear this, they can continue to amuse themselves and the rest of you - and I'll just find my amusement elsewhere, for now. It’s not a big deal to skip posts or entire threads.
So.....back to your regularly scheduled program of insults

Schoolyard bully haters ,
Reluctantly (kicking & screaming) I have to admit John Fowles is obviously an icon in Corfid. His work and efforts are there for all of us to see and are undeniable. Those who chuckle at the cheap shots I throw in his direction are well aware of it too. The humour that is intended is mainly funny to some of us because it is so unfair to pick on someone who doesn't deserve it. John is a classic. (That doesn’t offer him protected species status though!)
And thats enough grovelling over the Master
- How about a joke:
One day a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very
sexy nightie. "Tie me up," she purred, "and you can do anything you want."
So he tied her up and went to the pub..............

Hi Janice,
You probably won't read this, but I like the way you write and totally respect your feelings. Not judgmental at all!
PS I love John and enjoy reading Sydney Steve's banter as well

Once again Janice, you've ackowledged that you made an error in judgement as this is a joke between 2 men, yet you've followed with more judgements and tongue lashings.lol [/QB]

I have run out of time and interest in playing this game of semantics with you, Al. So I'll close my participation with these last few comments:
1. I only made one judgment. As it turns out my defense of a friend wasn't required. I acknowledged that error and apologized to the appropriate people. Which is more than most would do – or for that matter, have ever done here in Corfidland.
2. Any other comment I made was opinion (very different in definition from judgment) for which I owe no apology and none will be forthcoming.
3. You don't owe me any "thanks" Al, but I certainly appreciate your manners in extending it
I'd tell everyone to have a great weekend, but heaven forbid I be accused of granting permission for that as well. Gosh - I'll really have to be careful with this newfound status of power that Al has so graciously entrusted me with.

Thanks for the compliment, bjb. I appreciate that you obviously read my comments the way I wrote them and therefore meant them. By the way, I didn't mean to imply that I was going anywhere, just that I'd be taking advantage of my right to selective reading, so of course I'd read your post!

I was most relieved to read that final comment Al as I was very concerned that I had been a party to creating a situation where you two fine people were sniping at each other I would have commented earlier but a busy week including a foray into deepest Pennsylvania left me bereft of time. But I felt I should comment before moving on to a few thoughts from Glenside and Redding

Rather than continue to infiltrate semi-private shenanigans on the great unwashed public who wish to read only about Gord on this forum - and that is in itself a very laudable aim I will content myself here by saying that this did indeed start as a joking around sort of social interchange between the hemispheres ,I did say in a private message or email to that other bloke long ago that I appreciated his sense of humo(u)r which was almost good enough to qualify him as an honorary Englishman, Since then I have been highly amused by his puerile efforts to display pictures by quite unecesarily (in most cases) saving them from their original web location then uploading to image shack. Our interchange was purely meant for our own enjoyment but if
it amused a few of you too all the better.it is obviously regrettable that some readers were offended and in particular I regret that Al had to have a go at Janice as I respect the contributions here by both of them. I do note that it was Steve who broke the unwritten rule by allowing his insults to spill over to this main forum on August 20th in his rude/crude
response to my genuine concern at the logging in problem I alone seemed to encounter and reported on at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...c;f=1;t=003342
Note that this all started in a test forum topic at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...c;f=3;t=000153
which was a serious disertation on how large in pixels a picture should be to display here without overlapping the available
message space and thereby causing a scrolling problem. On July 29th the Sydney hooligan hijacked that topic to rant at me most unfairly I then used the small talk forum to add to a topic that man had started at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb...c;f=2;t=000672
where to be fair he had stated that his intention was "aimed at a smile for our special Corfid people" This backfired when somebody hiding behind the notion of "friendship" found too much inappropriateness there saying so in a
manner reminiscent of the late unlamented punk "Dunkin Michael Douglas the turd".
OK OK enough enough already I will now conclude by referring you back to that small talk topic where I will express my thanks
to my loyal supporters here.

Elsewhere on the internet I posted that I
"haunt another ultimate bulletin board devoted to my other main musical hero who was
fortuitiously mentioned by historian Jerry in the topic:-

I then displayed corfid style that great Massey Hall picture
all this on the topic
