Considering how many songs he's written it's a wonder he remembers the lyrics as well as he does (I know, I know - singing them skaty-eight times a year over 30-40 years should impress them on the brain but I'm a writer and every once in a while I come across something I wrote a while back and don't even recognize it as my own.)

MANY moons ago I saw him in concert (at a college venue) and he was having a *really* bad night - mostly he was PO'd because he had to stop due to a string breaking mid-song and the crowd got a bit restless waiting while he replaced it (Frisbees flying overhead). But he recovered, had 'em going with The Auctioneer (first time I'd heard it) and finished the night to applause. But I bet he still was happy to be outta there.

Yes Gord doesn't stray too far from what you hear on the CD, I have seen him about 6 times and he always does 6-7 core songs everynight without question, that isn't up for debate... as far as the other tunes they get rotated as he himself likes to say.

I think I have seen him perform 10 tunes that aren't on any CD in addition to the ones all us hardcore fans know about.

Welcome Aboard Silverheels; I took my two children (19 and 21) to see
Gord last May in what may be the last concert I will see and they both
confessed that it exceeded their expectations and was, in fact, the best
concert they had ever experienced. I notice now that they both have a
plethora of Gord's music on their computers now. It reaches across
generations.

I can't tell you - without sounding like a slightly hysterical OTTGAS fanatic - how exciting it is for me to read these posts.

I can't beleive that all thee years - Gordon Lightfoot has been there - and I've never seen him.

If he does tour again - where will I find out about the schedule? - it is worth the flight to me to see him live.

Another Cathy,

Check pollstar.com , they have a notifier that will send updates to your email regarding any peformers that you put on your list. Try it and put a few besides Lightfoot on it and you will see how it works. You can also add venues as well as performers. That'll keep you up to date.

My husband picks on me all the time too Cathy! But then again I am the one who introduced Gordon's music to him. He thought that Sara Mclaughlin originally recorded Song For A Winters Night. Boy did I have to straighten that out.

Welcome Cathy!
