I just noticed a
new ebay auction item from yesterday at:-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...034334980&rd=1
This features "warner bros single WB 5621"
I'm Not Sayin' / For Lovin' Me
The seller says:-
'It looks Exactly like the US version but in the fine print around the bottom of the label it says manufactured and distributed in CANADA by the COMPO Company"
Now all my original United Artists albums had pukka UA labels but were similarly from Compo who were based in Lachine Quebec:-actually just down the road from where I then worked (Rolls-Royce Canada in Dorval)
I googled for "compo-lachine-warner" and found this:-
"In the 1950s, Compo pressed more and more records for American companies -- more than 25 in the
1960s, including Warner Brothers"
So was this single actually issued in the US on Warner some years before Gord's celebrated
new 1970 contract with Warner/Reprise?
Anybody know... Valerie perhaps??
