John, I think that may refer to the song "Dream Street Rose." I seem to recall, in the distant past, Gordon mentioning in a concert that the song was based on a Damon Runyon character. But, then, I may be wrong.

Okay,ever since I was a kid and heard Bugs Bunny refer to this person,I've had one question...who the heck is Damon Runyon????

Alfred Damon Runyon was a fabulous reporter, writer, and all-around character. See http://www.pressclub.org/about/history/drunyon.htm
for a brief synopsis of his life and times. If you've ever seen "Guys and Dolls" or one of the versions of "Lady for a Day" or "Little Miss Marker," or "The Lemon Drop Kid, you've seen Runyon adapted for stage and screen. Most of his characters are on the fringes of polite society, often gamblers or gangsters. His most famous quote is probably "It may be that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong - but that is the way to bet."
