In Adel, Georgia, at about 2 A.M. this past Saturday morning, a car with 4 teenagers (2 of them were my cousins, one age 16, the other age 21) struck and hit a tree. One of the boys (not my cousin) was killed instantly. I awoke later Sat. morning to hear my Dad tell me that my 2 cousin's had been in a wreck, and the younger one was brain-dead, and the other would be paralyzed from the neck down. I didn't expect my younger cousin to make it, and sure enough, a few hours later, my Mom called and told me he had died. They had decided to 'unplug' him from the ICU unit because he wouldn't be able to live without being hooked up to the machine. Yesterday, (Monday), we went to his funeral. Well, earlier today I just got to visit my older cousin, who was also in intensive care, and they've decided that they would have to unplug him too sometime tonight (don't know if it's already happened or not). It was a weird feeling, seeing him layed up there, hearing that machine click as it breathed for him, and as I walked out the room, knowing it'd be the last time I'd ever see him alive. I thought I'd tell you all this so maybe you could a a prayer or two for us.

The only thing worse than having to go to a funeral is having to go to two funerals (insided of one week!)

Fading Away,

I am so sorry for all the loss, and the pain of yours and all families involved. Its got to be tough to lose two cousins like that. I know that scary sound of the ventilator and ICU machines all to well.

I've said a prayer for all you've mentioned, those lost, all involved families, and the pain your all going through, especially yours. The two funerals back-to-back must have been real tough.

You must be having a rough time over it, especially with the title you gave your thread.
I'm very sorry for how hard this must be for you.

sincerely, geo Steve

That's really sad this all happened. I can't imagine what their parents must feel like, and you. With a funeral on Monday and then another to follow sometime this week, it's gotta be hard so say the least. If you feel like you need to talk to somebody, don't hesitate because sometime's someone can give you a little insight to help deal with things when they can be so overwhelming.

Keep your chin up and know that people are praying for you and your family. I know I am and it's not the first time you've been in my prayers. Hang in there.

Oh dear Lord I am SO sorry for you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Is it something in the air? The same thing is happening here - 4 accidents involving teens (and trees) in two weeks, with several fatalities. One was the son of a local police officer - fortunately the father was not the first responder. What riled a lot of people was there were two other kids in the car who walked away and never called for help, even though there was a fire station about a quarter mile from the scene. They left him to be found dead about 4 hours later. The only consolation, if you can call it that, is that he was unconscious and so badly hurt he died in minutes. My daughter knew all of them, though not well.

Sorry to hear of all the tragedy you and your family are going through, Douglas.
You know you have friends here who really care about your well-being, and if you feel the need to just talk it out, all you have to do is just send an e-mail.
I'll be praying for you and your family.

I too send my condolences and prayers. Finding myself a paraplegic last May after a bacterial spinal abscess I found comfort and support by fellow 'Lightheads'. The "Internet People" as Gord calls us, helped restore my spirits and fight the challenges that lay ahead. Gord's music as always was a comfort!! Whenever I am down or face a crisis I always came across some line or phrase in his songs which raised me up from the depths of dispair. Lines that I knew from years before were suddenly seen in a new light! As if Gord understood and was speaking directly to me.
Wishing you peace and all the best....

Yuri

I am glad that you felt you were able to "talk" to us about this. It is so hard to deal with alone and I am sure that with this all being within your family that the concentration is on the victims and their parents....we'll be here for you.

email on the way Douglas.

Thanks and bless you all for your replies and support. I'm doing okay, but my Uncle is taking this hard. Not to mention that he now has his ex-wife to contend with.

The one in the blue is Chad (21), and the one in the brown coatis Brandon (16). The other one is there step-brother, who was not involved in the accident.

"Wait 'til I see you next time
Maybe I'll lose my mind
Livin' without you" (from the Gord song)

She isn't the most pleasant person to be around. She's more than glad to get attention from all this. She kicked the two boys out of the house about 2 years ago (when they were only 14 and 19), yet you should have heard her at visitation, all that loud bawling and crying, trying to attract attention. It doesn't really bother me all that much, though. 90% of the of everyone (including my Uncle's side and her side of the family) sees right through her. I actually saw a couple of the funeral-home workers shake their heads in disapproval a few times...
