I'm pretty sure it's not a Gord song.

chillywilsa,hi there!
Well those lyrics could be to a lot songs by a lot of different pop groups. It would help me if you could tell me if it's sung by a solo male or female singer or if it's by a group, also would help if you can tell what decade it's from or if it's new.

The "Gimme Gimme" part makes me think of the ABBA song of the same name. Some people consider them to be cheesy, despite their popularity. That's the best I can do unless you have more clues or more lyrics to offer.

Aurevoir!

Gimme Dat Ding

written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood
recorded by The Pipkins

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's right, that's right
I'm sad and blue
'Cause I can't do the Boogaloo
I'm lost, I'm lost
Can't do my thing
That's why I sing
Gimme, Gimme Dat Ding ah..

Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Dat
Gimme Dat Ding, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat Ding
Gimme Dat, Gimme, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Dat Ding
(Oh Sing it one more time Momma)

Oh, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Dat
Gimme Dat Ding, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat Ding
Gimme Dat, Gimme, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Dat Ding
(Ah, you ain't doin' that late at night)

Ah, what good's a metronome
Without a bell for ringing?
How fast can anybody ever tell he swings?
How can you tell the rhythm written on a bar?
How can you ever hope to know just where you are?
Gimme Dat, (Gimme Dat) Ah Gimme Dat (Gimme Dat)
Ah Gimme Dat, (Gimme Dat) Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme,
(Ah Gotcha!)

Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Dat
Gimme Dat Ding, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat Ding
Gimme Dat, Gimme, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Dat Ding

[Honky Tonk Piano Interlude]

Oh, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Dat
Gimme Dat Ding, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat Ding
Gimme Dat, Gimme, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Dat Ding

Ah, what good's a metronome
Without a bell for ringing?
How fast can anybody ever tell he swings?
How can you tell the rhythm written on the bar?
How can you ever hope to know just where you are?
Gimme Dat, Ah Gimme Dat
Ah Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme,

Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme Dat
Gimme Dat Ding, Gimme Dat
Gimme, Gimme Dat, Gimme Dat Ding
Gimme Dat, Gimme, Gimme Dat,
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Dat Ding

Or, could it be:

Artist: Steve Winwood
Song: Gimme Some Lovin Lyrics

"Well, my temperature's rising and my feet hit the floor
Twenty people knocking 'cause they're wanting some more
Let me in, baby, I don't know what you've got
But you'd better take it easy, 'cause this place is hot

So glad we made it, so glad we made it
You got to gimme some lovin', gimme some lovin'
Gimme some lovin' every day

Well, I feel so good, everything is sounding hot
Better take it easy, 'cause the place is on fire
Been a hard day and I don't know what to do
Wait a minute, baby, it could happen to you

So glad we made it, so glad we made it
You got to gimme some lovin', gimme some lovin'
Gimme some lovin' every day

Well, I feel so good, everybody's getting higher
Better take it easy, 'cause the place is on fire
Been a hard day, nothing went too good
Now I'm gonna relax, honey, everybody should

So glad we made it, so glad we made it
You got to gimme some lovin', gimme some lovin'
Gimme some lovin' every day"

Though I wouldn't place this one in the "cheesy" category which certainly applies to "Gimme Dat Ding."

Just as I was getting ready to type that it was The Spencer Davis Group who recorded this, I remembered that Steve Winwood was the lead singer for the group - saved myself from a major blunder I've always like this song, it reminds me of a lot of the fun stuff Sam and Dave put out in their heyday, which was around the same time frame as this song. Not that I was enjoying it during their heyday, mind you, I was a bit young for that, but I developed a love for 60's music after the fact.

Okay, okay, I rescind 18% of my previous slam: "It Never Rains In Southern California" is a great tune, and all royalties on that one are well deserved. (Thanks for the info!)

Hey,Michigan! Thanks for posting the lyrics to "Gimmie Some Lovin'!" I have had this song in my collection for 25 years (this year!)and I could never understand what the heck Steve W. was singing! The title line is easy, but in the 60s,where you can't have a song longer than 3min:30sec,the rest is pretty run together. It's a kick butt song but until now,I actually thought he was saying,"Well I feel so good, everything's banana pie!" "You better take it easy, guns are ready to fire (fi-uh!)"

A thousand thanks! Aurevoir!

The interesting thing about Tony Burrows, who did the lead vocals on this song, is that he was a session vocalist and actually had four songs simultaneously hit the top ten in the UK, under four different names/groups in 1970. There was this one as the Pipkins, Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) as Edison Lighthouse, My Baby Loves Lovin' as White Plains and United We Stand as The Brotherhood Of Man. From what I understand, White Plains was really the only legitimate group of these four and Tony really wasn't a part of the group, he was just a left-over from a previous incarnation who sat in on this first recording session. The other three "groups" were just vehicles for the songwriters who formed them to get their songs out there.
