I don't if any of you listen to any of the yahoo stations and while this 1 http://uk.music.yahoo.com/ar-255192---Gordon-Lightfoot does play some good stuff it also plays other artists. I don't understand that and I've listened to other such stations, for example Al Wilson, who was well known for the songs Show and Tell and my favorite The Snake don't think I've heard him at all. Getting back to the Lightfoot station, if they played more Lightfoot I could hear more deep cuts and so far they've only played the re-recorded versions of his 60s stuff.

I just finished listening to "Wherefor and Why" - then they switched to playing Bread doing "Lost Without Your Love", followed by Jackson Browne singing "Tender Is the Night." Must be a 70s format with a sprinkling of Gord. I'll give it a longer listen to see how much is Lightfoot and how much is everything else. Getting even a couple of Gord's songs per hour on a station is good. Still, if I want "all Gord, all the time" I have to put my own collection on 'shuffle' LOL.

I too got "Wherefore and Why" as a first song, then it was Bob Welsh, Seals and Crofts, and now John Denver.

I do miss Denver's story telling ability.

Hey, I tried programming one of those stations once. You can only pick the songs they have available for the artist, and programming it to only play one or two artists is a hugely time consuming feat. The whole process is cumbersome and not really set up properly for someone looking to just play one artist. It drove me insane and I finally gave up.

In regards to Al Wilson,it's a funny prophetic title to his last hit. "I Have a Feeling (We'll Be Seeing Each Other Again)"
Just over 30 years later, there he was last year on a PBS music special singing (what else?) "Show & Tell". At least he didn't lie! :D What the heck did the man do for 30 years? Just glad I still have my 45!

You know I think most of the Lightfoot songs are taken from his best of LP's. I heard Aberta Bound and just from the sound of his voice, it sounds like it was from some of his later best of complations. Even though It's been years since I've heard Race Among The Ruins the version on the station also sounds like a re-recording. I'll tell ya, the remakes on GG-1 are not to bad but some of the ones from the other LP's seem worse or at least in the cases of the 2 songs I just mentioned.
