Very cool on the guitar, what is the history of this? Did you make it and scan it or is it on a website someplace? Has some resemblance.

Pretty good. What's the significance of the squirrel?

I think the squirrel has to do with a good many of his songs dealing with the outdoors and the fact that most people associate his music with the outdoors. I think the squirrel is giving him a thumb's up or holding up his index finger as to tell him he's #1.

I found this on a website somewhere.

You could do like I do. Instead of spending the time to learn how to post a picture, I just e-mail it to John Fowles and ask him to post it. Just remember to thank him several times!

Quite

Lightfoot Avails 2006 and 2007
_________________________________________________
I have now received by regular email a splendid picture/poster/flyer from ELizabeth after sending her a Private Message
offerring to help her display it.However I am somewhat mystified because it is actully a link in a forwarded email
originally from Tom Barrett <tom@stevenspointarea.com>
where Stevens Point is a venue in Wisconsin
this actually then appears to haver been relayed to ELizabeth via a group email to:-
"'Bad Rats'" <badrats@hiddenhistory.com>
which I know from a rich flow of stuff eminates from some out of work piano player posing as "the rez"
this is what was in ELizabeth's email:-

If you check that gif file's properties either here or as I did in the the email you will find that it is:-
http://rm.resultsmail.com/customers/...ot%20Flyer.gif

Now having got that URL address it would have been simplicity itself to utilise Florian's cheating "image" link that appears
under the text box in the "Instant UBB code" listing and either Rex or ELizabeth could have displayed the picture all by
themselves, together with a word or two of explanation.
John Fowles
What you cannot see in that flyer only picture is that in the forwarded email are a header and footer which are in themselves very interesting:-

So has anybody contacted Icon Performing Arts in the city of the Angels to see if they have been in contact with EMP in Tronno
or what is this is all about or is this a fiendish plot by SharRon John and Claudia to get Gord to play somewhere nearer to
Minnesota in the near future

Oops I forgot the email also had this text

Gene, think he’d do a deck gig?

Tom Barrett

Executive Director

SPACVB

so I guess Gene is Tom's contact in LA??
That reminds me. Very sad news this morning that Gene Pitney has passed away at 65 in Cardiff Wales while on tour.
I saw him once in a concert in England circa 1963. Rather more than "24 hours from Tulsa"!!
It was at the Derby Odeon with a long list of acts. It was a sell-out but I got in standing at the back for free on the strength of mentioning my frequent helping out as a student at the Odeon Hammersmith,London selling ice creams and souvenir progranmmes.
Ah those were the days!!
I just checked the Reuters news page:-
http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/news..._UK-PITNEY.xml
I do not think I knew before that he wrote Bobby Vee's great hit Rubber Ball.

John Fowles - Thank you so much for your kindness in posting the GL picture. You are generosity itself. You are also quite correct in thinking that this came from the John Stewart BadRats list and not his other list Bloodliners.Gene is to BadRatS as Char is to this list and Tom Barret helps some agency schedule gigs. That is all I know about that. However sir, you were incorrect about an out of work piano player having anything to do with this. He was in no way implicated

John, Icon Performing Arts is a talent representation agency (which for all practical purposes is a booking agency) that lists Gord as being on their roster. I would assume that they have been hired by EMP to facilitate/coordinate Gord's US bookings.

Maybe Sharon, John or Claudia might want to see if there is a place suitable in the Upper Peninsula of MI that has an opening on September 17 and let Icon Performing Arts know contact info. It certainly looks like they are trying to fill that date and maybe these three could get their wish at a closer Lightfoot concert.

This is a very cool poster, Elizabeth, thanks to you and John for sharing it with us. For anyone interested in just the picture from the above poster - without the text - it can also be obtained at Icon's web site. The bio they have posted makes for a pretty nice read as well.

well done,John Wicklund, that September 17 slot is now filled see John's topic
on the newly announced Minneapolis concert

that picture is beautiful and quite gigantic (only by 1992 by 2796 pixels and is just over 2MB) which means for dial ups it is a 10 minute plus download and as I have tried to demonstrate here before trying to display an unresized picture that is more than aboat 850 pixels wide causes severe column width and scrolling problems on these forums:-
To see the whole thing and save it for yourself as I have just done therefore I am not going to display it but will give the address:-

when I have a brit of time tomorrow I will resize it and display it here
One more thing Jenney do you stil have Darin Hogan's email address as I for one have not heard a dicky bird aboat him for yonks not really since he got married and if there are a number of local fans going to that concert there should be plans to be made for some sort of pre- or post- concert get together which should include master tee shirt organiser Darin

If you're looking for hi-rez images of GL, look no further than the Linus site...

John, I'm afraid I've not heard anything from Darin in a long time. I guess married life and fatherhood keeps him happy and busy. I know he changed his email address too, and even though he gave it to me, I can't find it anywhere.
I remember meeting John & Debbie Wicklund the last time I was in MN and went to the Orpheum. That was one of the loveliess theaters I've ever been in.

That would make him just up the road from the Wicklands.

Yes, I believe that John often goes into the grocery store that Darin works in.

Most annoying I am certain that yesterday, when pushed for time I opened that link and was then able to see the complete jpg file. indeed I was able to check its properties and decide that at 2+ MB it was way too large to try to display as all dial up viewers would complain at the excessive time required. Quite apart from the fact that it was also way too large to be displayed. I fully intended to resize it and displeaay a smaller version and thought that I had saved it for such a task but no and now the jpg file that you get is less than half of it. Did anybobdy else save it whilst it was complete? If so I can tell you how to upload it so that I can get it
John Fowles
Fingers crossed

OK OK I have now learned a lot about Windows automaticaly caching viewed web pages to save you time.
My problem really was simply that having inadvertently downloaded less than half of the file that was what was stored in the
cache and Windows not knowing any better persisted in showing this cached half picture whenver I asked Internet Exploder to
display the actual web page.
Having now deleted that incomplete version I succeeded in downloading the whole picture correctly and then resized it from
the original 1992 by 2796 pixels and a file size of 2009344 bytes (1.91MB or 1963KB) to a more manageable and displayable 590
pixels wide (to match the asize of the flyer I displayed above) the file is now only 590 x 828 and vastly more user friendly at only 28596 bytes

I really like this full colo(u)red and full length version of the familiar APPT CD insert
and the clever use made by Icon Performing Arts to convert it into a flyer
I decided to crop the high resolution picture to a nearly square format producing

cropped to 590x588
file size reduced to 25293 bytes
at this point I had a thought
Oh do stop sniggering you Sydney hooligan!!
I could have simply cropped the original flyer picture in the first place
I then did so
And also cropped the Gordon Lightfoot header
I then grouped these two portions using a drawing program(me) (Serif's DrawPlus and produced a suitably sized master insert square

I have kept notes of this procedure so that I can in due course use this as an excellent example to illustrate pending Uncle John tutorials on jpg picture resizing,
their displaying on corfid and using DrawPlus
As soon as I post this here I will be adding a suitable CD title to display it as a CD jewel case front insert on another current topic
