Does anyone know if Gord is planning on using an opening act, as he did in Hamilton, on his 2005 Tour ?
Bill
2005 Tour ? It needs a better name, don't you think ?

Does he usually use opening acts these days? Anyway I don't remember any previously 'named' tours (like the "Hell Freezes Over" tour by the Eagles). If he did, it'd probably be named after the most recent album, in this case Harmony, though I like the ring of either "River of Light Tour" or "End of All Time Tour."

What's wrong with "The Harmony Tour"? Sounds good to me.
I don't think he's ever used opening acts but if he did choose one,I'd go with Norah Jones for a "today" choice.
Otherwise,I'd pick an established act but not one that would overshadow him,America maybe? Just guessing. Later!

I don't recall ever seeing GL with an opening act. I would love for Terry and maybe Red Shea to open with a really 'let loose' set. I have always wanted to see what TC can really do with a guitar. I know what RS can do with one. Just an idea.

Looooove Norah Jones!! Great taste, border buddy! I also love your idea, Elizabeth. However, I'll take the opening act of Gord, please, with a side of Gord, a main course of Gord, and a cherry on top! (that being the encore!!)

Remember when Gord had classical guitar player, Liona Boyd as an opening act.In Liona's biography book she has a chapter about her time travelling with Gordon and his band, and how special Gord always made her feel and treated her with respect. Randy

Mimi Farina has opened for him on the west coast, not recently of course though.
I don't see anyway N. Jones or any other big star would open for Gord these days. For one the concerts don't draw a big enough crowd to support someone like Jones and second, that would be like U2 opening for Grand Funk Railroad. Of course Gord is much better in my opinion but it's a business and it wouldn't make sense. I think that any opening act would have to be some club band or some local singer/songwriter that is looking for a break or recognition.

I doubt ther will be an opening act...He has had Liona Boyd as mentioned, Colleen Peterson, The Good Brothers but was a long time ago. The Goods opened for him in Hamilton but I think that was because Gord's set was a "casino" set-only 70 minutes or so and they filled in the rest of the time for a full evenings worth of entertainment. Plus Gord and The Goods go way back.
I prefer all Gord, all the time...

That's what I was hoping - I'm getting too old to sit through something I didn't pay for, LOL. (although I did enjoy The Good Brothers and their little dog)

Thanks Sheryl! You know I was also thinking Ashlee Simpson would be a great fit along with good old GL too!
...and ya know,if anything goes wrong like on SNL,Gord can bail her out by letting her lead the audience in a square dance!!! (To "Redwood Hill" I'd bet! )

Me too, the Good Brothers had a dog on stage? How great, sorry a little dog lover mush for a moment. But if there is an opening act I vote for our own Bill Hall to lead us to Gord.

char, i remember you meantioned you dug the song they did for their father (so did M's dad), if you go to http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp
you can download their video performance (and most ALL audio shows) and you will see them do the tune at about the 27 min mark...you can see our guest fiddler friend playing danny boy also
such a great site, i need to see tons more of acts from this site when i'm back online and virus free (anyone know what a 'highjacked browser' is? )
btw, how about calling it the "The Junebug Travellin' Tour"? no, eh? lol

Love the idea of Bill Hall opening for Gord!! Seconded, totally!!
Ashlee Simpson: RAZZZZZZZZZZZBERRIES!!!
jj: Hijacked browser? eww, not good! First, update your virus patches... then, turn off 'puter, re-start in SAFE MODE, then run a complete virus scan. Be sure to check your registry, too. I had a nasty little bugger called BackdoorNetbus trojan (frankly, I was offended by the very name!!) which took forever to get rid of. Good luck!!

Courtesy of a tear in the space time continuum: opening act, Gord late 60s; main attraction, contemporary Gord; encore: Gord at 19, 35, 50 and now singing in harmony.
Other than Sheryl's very good suggestions re your hijacked browser (Internet Explorer, right?) - either get a Mac for your next computer or try a different browser. I like Mozilla Firefox - it's less "buggy" and you can open a bunch of sites in tabbed format. You don't have to remove IE, just add Firefox. There are other browsers that are also more secure than IE; I'm sure other folks on this site will have their favorites.
