I guess it all depends on definitions
and the following should interest chief chart researcher Borderstone!!!
(Forgive me for setting "B" up for a further thousand postings!!!)
As Gord is Canadian surely of more relevance is his early Canadian successes??
from Canadian charts at:-
http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/index.html
the first entry for Gord is at:-
http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/Charts/1962/Ch196212.html
Chart #297 - Monday, December 3, 1962
showing "It's Too Late, He Wins" at number 28 followed by "Negotiations" at number 29
But for me personally it was the much overlooked single "Spin Spin"
that signalled to me that here was a hit-maker as evidenced by:-
Chart #503 - Monday, October 10, 1966
"Spin Spin" was at number 6
up from 9th on October 3rd
admittedly it was a short-lived hit as
it fell to 12th on the October 17th
