Very sad to hear this news.
I always enjoyed listening to his material and his soothing voice, and he was a true gentleman.
"I Wish This Night Would Never End" was one of my favourite songs of Sonny.
Thanks for the post AOTA.

There's a music piece I learned probably in elementary school in music class called Heart & Soul and it sounds like he or whoever wrote the song was inspired by it when Young Love was written.

Sonny also did a version of "Bright Lights Big City."

Think that was a blues or early R&R song though don't know who originally did it.

I know I'm seriously late in responding here but I hadn't noticed this topic.

I did know he had gone but hadn't known of a thread being here.

Another great artist with a #1 hit in the 1950s (on one of Billboard's 4 charts but not Best Sellers In Stores.) "Young Love" reached #2 on that chart...and pretty much right behind Tab Hunter's #1 version.

Sonny had a unique vocal style and while it served him well in the country field, his only other Pop hit was "First Date, First Kiss, First Love", which barely made the top 40 on the Best Sellers chart.

Ironic thing for me. It was only
last year I finally tracked down that very 45.

I had gotten "Young Love" back 1980,
on a '50 Various Artists Lp I got for my birthday.

A belated RIP Sonny
