Kris Kristofferson says he can remember lyrics, but not much more.

Country singer Kris Kristofferson has had an outstanding memory all of his 77 years — he was a Rhodes Scholar and has an English literature degree from Oxford. But the Grammy Award-winning singer is now losing his ability to remember things — except for his beloved song lyrics.

"They tell me it's from all the football and boxing and the concussions that I got," the singer told Fox411. "A couple of years ago my memory just started going. But I can remember my songs so I can perform, but other than that ..."

Kristofferson played multiple sports in college and was a Golden Gloves boxer. He's not the only country music star to struggle with memory issues. Glen Campbell, also 77, revealed in 2011 that he has Alzheimer's disease, and canceled an international tour last summer to deal with his health.

Kristofferson's memory loss isn't slowing him down. On Monday, he performed at the Hollywood Walk of Fame star dedication for late singer Janis Joplin.

And memory problems aside, the singer says he has no regrets about his life. "I can't think of anything that I could do that I haven't done," he said. "Maybe if I were to write and direct a film, but I don't think I will ever do that."

He may not have written and directed a film, but his movie resume is impressive. He won a Golden Globe award for his role in the 1976 hit "A Star is Born," and his other films include "A Joyful Noise," "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," and the "Blade" trilogy. His latest film, "The Motel Life," with Emile Hirsch and Dakota Fanning, opens Friday.

"I am very lucky," he said. "And on top of that I have a wife that has been married to me for 33 years and I have got eight children and they all like me. I am very blessed and am at a very good point in my life."

Jimmy Webb was in TO on tv yesterday before his show at Hugh's Room tonite and spoke of Glen Campbell-his dear friend: http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1039922

Good event at the Plaza Feb. 24, with Del Bryant, president of BMI, getting the Golden Mike from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.
Bob Schieffer hosted, and it was clearly more than a typical rubber chicken event for Bob, who dabbles in country music. Schieffer described himself as a "hard charging, struggling songwriter—and a member of BMI."
Del being head of BMI and all, there was plenty of music. The singer/songwriter Brenda Russell called Bryant "a wonderful human being" who treated her the same whether or not she'd had a song on the charts, before she belted out a few numbers.
Kris Kristofferson, a friend of Bryant's dating back to '67, then told the back story of his best known hit, "Me and Bobby McGee," saying how Bryant's parents, the famed Nashville songwriting duo Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, had a female secretary named Bobbi McKee who inspired the song. Kristofferson's acoustic version of the song at the event had Bobbi as a female. He improvised one chorus to go, "good enough for me—and Janis—good enough for me and Bobbi McKee."
