I just got back from visiting my in-laws in Cork City and nearby Kinsale (mentioned in Gord's "Ghosts of Cape Horn"). Twenty-four years after starting on the family tree, I met blood relatives living in Ireland and they took me to the Kilmeedy, County Limerick farm my great-great-great-grandfather lived on before he sailed to Australia in 1858. I wonder what he would have thought of a descendant flying from Australia to visit that farm 155 years later. (And Sir John Fowles will be interested to know I visited his old country and survived the sub-freezing temperatures and numbing winds on the moors around Silsden, West Yorkshire.)

Wow, Dave, that must have been so emotional to see that farm. Your great-great-great grandfather would probably never in a million years have thought about a massive flying machine that could take people all over the world. Very cool.
