Default Bad News About Valarie Harper

From People Magazine via IMDb

Valerie Harper is facing a devastating diagnosis: terminal brain cancer.

The television icon – beloved for her role as brash New Yorker Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off, Rhoda – received the news on Jan. 15, she reveals to PEOPLE in this week's exclusive cover interview.

A battery of tests revealed she has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare condition that occurs when cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain. Her doctors say she has as little as three months left to live.

Resolved to face her last days with courage and humor, "I don't think of dying," says the actress, 73, who previously battled lung cancer in 2009. "I think of being here now."

What terrible news to see and read when I got to the homepage of IMDb
& all I can offer is my prayers to her and her family and all who know her best.

In a way,I feel a bit cheated. It was only last June/July of 2012,that I finally watched all of The Mary Tyler Moore Show series on DVD.
Just before,I'd seen nearly all of them on ME-TV but only 8 shows before that, being too young in the 1970s to understand the shows.

I got to watch Valerue in the 80s on The Hogan Family before her feud with(and later legal victory over) NBC. it's too bad they loused that up for her, she'd have 2 long running successful shows to claim for herself.

Aside from the MTM Dvd's,I last saw Valerie on the Betty White birthday specials and before that the "Mary & Rhoda" TV reunion movie. In advance of the inevitable,I'll now say thank you to her for Rhoda on MTM and her series of the same name. As well as The Hogan Family.

I wish we had a praying smiley because I don't know how to end this message, except to say once again that this news is sad and comes as a great shock.
