Jack Reacher

I am a big fan of author Lee Child, his books feature ex US Army Military Police Major, Jack Reacher. For me Child's books are unputdownable. A film of "One Shot" a classiic Reacher adventure is in the pipeline. Reacher's Vital statistics read: 6' 5" tall, 220-250lbs, 50 inch chest. Who do they get to play this man mountain, Tom Cruise. I enjoy Tom Cruise films, but he is barely 50" tall let alone a 50" chest. Can't wait to see the film.

I too absolutely love Lee Child for creating Jack Reacher. Fantastic books that need to be made into films. In my mind he looks like, and has the same manner, as Ed Harris (from The Rock among others) but they'd have to use the same effects as in the Green Mile with John Coffey to make him look bigger.

I had to chime in on this, as both my wife and I are Reacher/Lee Child fans. Tom Cruise? All 5'6" of him just isn't going to do it. I guess if everyone else in the film is under 5", ala Alan Ladd...
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since "the Wild Wild West movie featured Will Smith as James West. Ugh....

I remember Alan Ladd form my childhood, apparently when he made "Boy on a Dolphin" with Sophia Loren he had to stand on a box for the love scenes and she walked in a trench alongside him when they walked together, Alan Ladd is still a favourite of mine always watch his films on TV especially Shane.

Just re-reading One Shot, and Reacher has just wiped out 3 big guys in a bar, these guys whould bounce Tom Cruise about like a football then punt him out of the stadium.

Just bringing this back to top, have just seen the film, "Jack Reacher" and Tom Cruise pulls it off, IMHO, very entertaining. Lee Child did fine as The Desk Sergeant.
