Default Homonyms anyone ?

Listening to SFAWN, I was taken by the lyrics :

"The morning sun steals across my window pane". Without being too literal, it seems a couple of homonyms could be used and still reflect the mood of the song. Thus,

morning = mourning

pane = pain

If this makes no sense......I'll understand.

Good topic!
How about in Forgive Me Lord

"I"ve been down on my luck, as a matter of fact
I've even been chased

Could be Chased, could be Chaste. Whole different meanings.

Good thread idea Ron - you've had a string of some really good ones lately.
(I THINK I SEE WHAT I AM DOING WRONG - I'M MAKING IT TOO HARD BY PICKING A COMPLEX SONG, THEN HOPING THERE ARE HOMONYMS IN IT.
SO NEXT TIME, I'LL WAX MY BALONEY HERE ON SEVEN ISLAND SUITE
ALLTOGETHER, AND THEN SEE IF ANY SENTENCES ARE PROMISING IN THE SOUL IS THE ROCK, AND JUST DO IT A SONG SENTENCE FROM HERE AND THERE. THATS WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING WELL, VS MY MESS LOL )
--------- Sea yew necks thaime I know mai plan of a tack now lol

I can think of two real doozies:
A- Seven Island Suite
B -The Soul Is The Rock

I'll tackle at least a bit of Seven Island Suite here, and unless its uncool per the thread host (Ron) I'd like to call dibs on The Soul Is The Rock for the next post I do.

OK so..... - here is a stab at Seven Island Suite. Ron...... - looks like we are going for the broader definition of homonym - I had to look it up!

You guys allready know it. Looks like you're all going for those words that when an alternate meaning is known by virtue of being spelled the same and/or spelled differently and sounding the same but meaning something different - and maybe interesting in the song..

I have a terrible thing to admit - I hardly ever have played word games, and as you can see above I didn't even know what a homonym was !
(so the secret is out on me, your lyrics quizzer game host. My qualifications are a complete sham... - I am a lyrics gamehost that has hardly ever played lyrics games !

OK.....I can dew this..... er..... doo this......er.......do !!

Seven Island Suite
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seven islands to the high side
( high is a homonym with 'Hi !' , mm hope
Of the bay, 'cross the bay -
(bay as a horse is boring...OK)
To the sunset through the blue light
( 'threw'. nope, lite, nope I suck at this)
Of a fiery autumn haze
(a frat 'haze' no- fire and Greek hazing don't mix )
We went walking on the high side -hmm
Of the bay on a chilly morn - hmm
And we saw how leaves had fallen - maybe sumpin there, but I'm to stupid
On the beds where trees are born
Any man in his right mind could not fail to be made aware
(OK ok - " " write mined (ore) too/two made/maid -sigh- )

Any woman with a gift of wisdom - nope
Would not seek her answersthere
(wood knot their ??)
Seven islands to the high side of the bay if you're looking west
( - - to/too/two beigh like a wolf ?
To the sunset you can see it, all in fiery autumn dress
Anytime would be the right time to come up to your bed of boughs
( - wood bee - write - 3t's - - 3t's bows ? )
Anybody with a wish to wander could not fail but to be aroused
( - - - - 3t's - naught/naught er.... no

================================================== (Before I de-chord them all, I'll take a stab a paragraph at a time ...lol....ayeeee !
I'll try this deal above, then I'll copy it down, or edit it, for my next try.

OK -I gotta do this different next try. All I have time for now. Fun ! I'm not good yet, but hey ! "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh-darn it,
people like me !" - SNL skit with 'Blue sweater-low self-esteem guy - played
by Al Franken - staff writer, and author of apolitical satire book slamming
conservatives, I think - he is pretty funny. Anybpdy see that ole' skit ? anyone ? er..... lol....

==================================================
<snip> - the rest of 7island

One of the best homonyms is the first line of "Broken Dreams", which has gotten some criticism on the "worst lists", but which I like; I think the criticism is from the "rocking" nature of it. Anyway, "There's an ocean/a notion in my mind...", etc. Great line.
