Default 2nd Open Mic

Reporting back from my 2nd Open Mic!!!

I didn't do too well, but had fun!

I started off by telling a story about a girl and a Goya. While standing and holding up the Goya by my side-I made sure the audience knew which one was the girl, and which was the Goya. I pointed out that the Goya has a smaller mid-section.

Gave a little background about the manufacture of the guitar, and that Liona Boyd's 1st guitar was a Goya and so was Stevie Nick's. I bought mine at Sallies Boutique for $60, and it took 3 months before I picked it up to play and soon after, was inspired to compose a little instrumental. There's just something magical about a girl and a Goya!

I played the [untitled] instrumental last open mic and decided to play it again and tell the story along with it. I had left index cards and pencils on each table and asked folks to jot down their thoughts, any words -whatever came to mind for them from the story I told and/or what they felt while listening to the song. From this, I told them that I would consider whatever they wrote - so I could come up with a title for this song already!

Here's what I got:

"Rosie Melodies", "The Garden", "Cripple Waves", "Little Woody" (egadz), "Listen to the Valley", "Night of the Sun", "Oh Boya 'tis a Goya with 6 strings, one neck, one sound hole, born in Korea, played in the States with over a million different tones", "Four Themes", "Sunrise", "Astarte", "Pit stop on the Journey to Canada".

Don't know if I'll incorporate any of these into the title, but this was fun and maybe will be of some help to me.

That's funny. Sounds like a hit to me.

Congratulations on plowing through your original doubts and just having fun with it.

Do it again.

Hey Pam,
I would think if someone said that you did too much talking then they must of wanted more singing and guitar playing What's wrong with that?

I admire your courage and I hope you continue to have fun and do what you love.

Are you serious that the love of your life ditched you?
If so, I am really sorry that happened to you.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and I hope it all works out for the best

That really sounds like a lot of fun

Music is such a wonderful way to express your joy in life. I really think it's great that you have taken the steps and now you're singing for(and with) people and having such a great time with it.
I am happy for you...it's hard to take a chance and go for what you want but you are doing it...good for you!
I am more than fine with it,,,lol
