Default At 76,embattled musician Ike Turner passes on.

Ike Turner passed away this morning 12/12/07 at age 76.

Ike,over the last 30 years has been a negative image and presence in the media and
he was virtually changed from one of rock and roll's founders to the virtual face of domestic violence. So it was revealed by ex-wife Tina Turner that he had been an abusive boyfirend and husband. Tina just turned 68 just 2 weeks ago.

Ike was hated by a vast majority in the last decades of his life but he always denied that he abused Tina. The one thing besides bringing us Tina Turner, that Ike can lay claim too is that he recorded the pre-rock era classic "Rocket 88". One of (if not the first) rock and roll styled recording.

I 'm not praising the man we all saw later but as with any human being on this planet,I'm respecting the fact that he was a person born like the rest of us,lived but lived in a frame of mind that, sadly,is what he'll be remebered for.

So,as one human acknowleding another passing,I seriously do hope his spirit gets to rest in peace and hopefully he made peace with Tina and God before he went.

Hi Borderstone,

Thank you for keeping us informed. I remembrer Ike and Tina from when I was young. I didn't keep up with them as I got older but how sad to leave this earth with so many people not liking you.

I know that the image of him being an abusive person will forever be in the front of peoples minds, and as for him denying that he had ever abused Tina, to this day I don't see how he could've, as I remember when the incident in question hit the news, since what he did to her started in their limo, but ended in front of witnesses. I will agree on one thing, and that is it's a sad thing that it happened. I often wondered just what sort of influences he had as a kid when it came to learning how to treat others, especially ones spouse. I can't help but think that the man couldn't have possibly had any good examples in that area.

First off, you're welcome Jess. I saw the news @ CNN.com,where I usually find these things out.

As far as how Ike was raised. Well, here's a man born at the beginning of the depression era,so you can imagine his family most likely had next to nothing. As well as the fact,a lot of babies born in that era have parents of old fashioed or maybe even ill-advised values. (Of any race mind you).

Also, most know that domestic violence is something children see/experience in the home and then after they become adults, the cycle continues.
Abusers have a lot of anger in them and since sometimes they don;t deal with the person who did it to them in the firstg place, they take it out on the one's they say they love.

Whatever anger he had,at least he's free of it now.
