Default Robert Goulet, dead at 73

"Robert Goulet, the handsome, big-voiced baritone whose Broadway debut in “Camelot” launched an award-winning stage and recording career, has died. He was 73.

The singer died Tuesday morning in a Los Angeles hospital while awaiting a lung transplant, said Goulet spokesman Norm Johnson.

He had been awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis."

Our next-door neighbor died from this. A non-smoker, he was only in his 50s when he died after a brief struggle with this. There's no cure, only a transplant, and like Bob Goulet, died while on the waiting list.

Very sad to hear this. My older sister had an LP of Robert Goulet in the mid 60's. That's all I remember of him, but still too bad, that he is gone.

I found out on my first break this morning looking at IMDb's homepage.

I only knew of Mr. Goulet as one of the star's of Camelot (although i've never atched the movie). Also,I did know that in 1962 he won the Best new Artist Grammy and that he had quite a following. That doesn't make his passing any less important though.

My father passed away from it too in August of 2000,only a little over 40 days from his 62nd birthday. Mr. Gouletwas fortunate to have made it to 72 but it's sad he (and those of us who've lost others) couldn't receive the much needed transplant.

RIP Mr. Goulet. I shall watch Camelot for the 1st time,in your honor.
