Don't know if anyone has interest in NASCAR but today I will attend my first live race. We watch the race every Sunday during race season. Fontana California Speedway is a few hours from where we live. This is a gift to my husband for going with me to four GL concerts in a row last month. :D

I'm sure he'll love it. We've never been to one; I'm not interested but my husband enjoys watching the races. Can't say he's a diehard fanatic, though. The nearest venue is Watkins Glen, about an hour and a half south of us. We've been to the glen itself many times - quite a hike up near the top - but it's a smallish place for a race and the crowds are terrific.

I've been to several Nascar races, and even worked in the Media Center a few times. It's a lot of fun
Hope you have a great time!

Wow, Wow Awesome race. Vickie, thanks for letting me know. Yes, it was a whole lot of fun. Now I am on a mission to find a race somewhere close to a GL concert. If Ken and I could do both in one trip we would float back to California. I am trying to get to Phoenix for the next race and maybe if I was real lucky I might get to meet Borderstone. :D

Rose, the Phoenix track is one of the best facilities I've been to. Easy to get out of after the race, which is more than can be said for most of the tracks. I don't particularly care for the type of racing on the flat tracks, but Phoenix has the added bonus of allowing you into the pits. That's a lot of fun, especially on qualifying day. If you're gonna go, go for the weekend - and do NOT miss the Truck race.
Glad you had a good time!

Ok Moosedog,
Now you really have me thinking. We only live 5 or so hours from Phoenix. To spend 3 or 4 days there plus tickets would be very steep. I love my husband very much but I would rather spend the $$ flying to see Gordon and the guys. Have you been to any of the other tracks?

I've been to quite a few tracks. Phoenix, Chicago, Michigan, Lowe's (Charlotte), Bristol, Nashville Superspeedway.....to mention some. I've somewhat lost interest over the past couple of years, but still like to hit a track or two just to catch up with some of the friends I have who work in the racing industry.

Sorry, I guess some how I hit post by mistake. That track looks like a hard one to see much. My husband and I were on a Sprint car pit crew for a few years a while back. Our driver got married and did not have much sponsorship so........ After being in the Pit working on the car I am spoiled at the races. If I have to sit in the stands I NEED to see everything. So, I will have to ponder this a bit. Talk to you soon. :D

Hope that you had alot of fun of at the race! We have been addicted to NASCAR for at least a dozen years now. We have the speed channel and all the other cable channels, so can watch all the races.
Just watched the race at Bristol with the "car of the future". Don't really know what to think of it yet. Like DW said today, it wasn't really wasn't a "race car" yet, but after all the data and statistics come in, then it will be a bonafide race car. Wonder what all they will have to change on it. Some of the drivers said that it was like going from driving a family car, to a SUV. It'll be interesting.!!!!!!!!!

Hi Louise,
We have been NASCAR fans since forever. After being on a pit crew for a sprint car it is really hard for me to watch races on television. Now I will only see a race if I can see the whole track(for the most part) and pit road. So, that means a live race with great seats.
We are starting to make plans to see a few races next year. We will be in Las Vegas in May for business. Hopefully we can go by the track and the tickets will be on sale.
The only problem I can see (please don't tell my husband), is I want to know what Gordon will be doing. The great thing about NASCAR tickets is that you can sell them very easy and not lose any $$$. :D
Thank you for the nice "chat".

Hey Louise,
Do you think we could work on that together and become rich? Some people don't like the smell or the sound. I think it's the whole package that makes for an incredible experience. :D

Hey! We might just have something there!!! Will have to get on that one. May dad was a research chemist. I'm sure he could have helped us out, but he's not with us anymore.
Oh, and the sound! The engines don't sound anything like they do on TV, do they? Even if you have "surround-sound". :D
