A happy birthday to the oldest living rocker & #1 hit having rock star!

Chuck was 28 in Aug. 1955,when he hit the top 10 with "Maybelline". He had a number of hits between then and 1964 (and an arrest or two.)

He didn't hit #1 though until 1972,with the absurd,"My Ding-A-Ling",which kept Elvis's "Burning Love" from going to the top!

Here's Chuck's "hit list",

1955-1964:

Maybelline #5

Roll Over Beethoven #29 (some radio stations wouldn't play it! )

School Day #3

Rock & Roll Music #8

Sweet Little 16 #2 for 3 weeks

Johnny B. Goode #8

Carol #18

Almost Grown #32

Back In The USA #37

Nadine (Is That You?) #23

No Particular Place To Go #10

You Never Can Tell #14

'72-'73:

My-Ding-A-Ling #1 (1 week) (Live in England)

Reelin' and Rockin' #27 (re-released after "My Ding-A Ling"'s success,the 1957 version.)

Note:If Bill Haley (Born in 1925) had lived,he'd be the oldest.

Oldest living #1 artist overall?? Mitch Miller!! July 4th,1911!

Who had the #1 hit "The Yellow Rose Of Texas" in 1955 and who is now 95 years old!!

The Live version of My-Ding-A-Ling is a classic. He plays the crowd like a harp - if you haven't heard it or haven't heard it in years - give it a listen.

Really !

And the man still gives hour-long concerts and still duck walks across a stage. Must be the adrenaline rush from the crowd, lol.

As far as I'm concerned, it's one of his more dummer songs and is below his other songs he recorded years earlier.
