Borrowing from the topic started by Gord H....
I was wondering if anyone here has had the experience of someone saying "you look just like (fill in the blank)". I endured a lot of that when I was waiting tables in the early years. The person they were referring to was never anyone famous, just someone they knew. However, the frequency of such remarks did make me question my ancestry.
Any stories ?

Yes well now you mention it I had some fame locally in England during the late 90s due to my perceived resemblance to John Major.
Who he?
A British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1990 - 1997.
In fact during that time as a member of our local Amateur Dramatic Society
APS (Amateur Players of Sherborne)
(A member not because I have any acting prowess but rather because through my company I possesed an essential scenery moving delivery van!!)
I was (against my better judgement as I can never remember lines or lyrics come to that) persuaded to pretend to be John Major and make a short speach at one year's Christmas party
OK so like the other John I have a full head of grey going on snowy white hair
And I seem to recall at least one public occassion when I was aware of curious stares in my direction
John Fowles
I also remember realising when he came to power that now that the Prime Minister was two years younger than me I must be getting old
Policemen of course had looked like kids to me for some years!!

When I was much younger and still had my hair and a full beard, I was often mistaken for actor Michael Gross who played the dad (Steven Keaton) on the long running TV series "Family Ties". A woman at a playhouse came up and asked me for my autograph. I tried to explain to her that I was not who she thought I was but she would not believe me! I finally had to sign "Best wishes, Michael Gross" on her theater program to get her to leave me alone! Another time I was driving on the Hollywood Freeway and a woman in an adjacent lane nearly rear-ended the car in front of her because she was looking at me. I must admit I was guilty of exploiting it occasionally at restaurants. I would tell the host/hostess "Keaton, party of 5" when requesting a table! :D

To Sir John - yes, you and the former PM do share a resemblence.
As for me, I once had a lady tell me I looked like John Ritter (Jack on Three's Company).
No, I don't think so...

They say that everyone in the world has a double somewhere. I believe it. I've yet to see someone like me, but I have seen people that were a spitting image of someone else I knew.

hi RMD,
I get the "Rosanna Arquette" thing quite a bit, not as often as I did when I was younger... I didn't even know who she was until I was 19 and someone freaked out thinking I was she...I think it's the skinny face and the overbite!

My current manager at my job bares a slight resemblance to a young Robert Culp.
My brother James could pass (somewhat) for either, when younger, Barry Williams (Greg Brady) or,when older,Jim Morrison.
My other brother Frank is practically a Paul Stanley (of KISS) look-alike,especially when he wore the make-up at halloween.
Me? Some lady at the grocery store says I look lke Michael Keaton ("Mr. Mom") I think she needs glasses!
Then again, that's better than when folks used to say,"Hey! You look like Ernie from Sesame Street!"
At least they didn't ask me to sing,"Rubber Duckie"! LOL! :D

I had a friend named Leanne who was the spitting image of Patty Hearst. For those of you who don't remember her, she was a young woman who faked her own kidnapping, but actually joined up with a militant group and robbed banks. I think she fell in with the Black Panthers, if I remember correctly.
Anyway, we were on a high school band trip to Southern Maine. We had all gotten pretty drunk the night before (hey, it was the '70s), and Leanne was suffering from a terrible hangover. We were on our way home... 104 teenagers on a Gray Hound bus. We stopped at Howard Johnson's for breakfast, and Leanne and a bunch of us sat down at a big, roung table. Now, this was right after Patty went missing. The FBI and most of the police departments across the nation were looking for her, and her story was on the news just about every night. The waitress walked over, looked at Leanne and said, "Oh, my God!" and walked away. She nervously came back a few minutes later and said, "You look just like Patty Hearst" We all played into it, started looking around and acting suspicious. Leanne said, "SSHHHH! Don't say that too loudly." The poor waitress almost freaked out. Eventually, we told her the difference. I know one thing, we got excellent service at that restaurant. I think the waitress probably thought we were the kidnappers, and we were all packing guns or something.

Just a note of thanks to all who have, or will post in the future. The posts have been very entertaining and have sent me "googling" a few times to refresh my memory. This is an interesting group indeed.

Just for the record, Borderstone, I can see the Michael Keaton resemblance, too.

Nope - I don't ever get confused for anyone. But on that note Borderstone here's that picture of you from 2004 in clickable thumbnail format.
