My dear friends please lend me your ears and eyes
I thought firstly of starting this topic on the main forum because it does IMHO concern the greater good of the Lightfoot community hereabouts, but figured the police there would surely object to what should obviously be considered an item of "small talk".However I might post a link to it on the General forum later.
what it is not is any type of "test" posting even if it deals partly with a "testy" subject
I hope shortly to post my final message regarding the picture size/display fiasco. but meanwhile and in line with my highly developed sense of,admittedly, British humo(u)r, I thought something to lighten the atmosphere might help.
I was therefore delighted to receive today an email from the sorely missed Rex "the rez"
subject "have you seen the new quarters? with some 11 suitable pictures atttached
I was very tempted to show them all here bearing in mind that the 11 pictures total only 178,740 bytes of which only one is in any way "large" this being my favo(u)rite and the 11th "quarter"which is only 97.673 bytes
the rest are tiny and should take but a few nanoseconds to download even on dial-ups,for example this sample is less than 8000 bytes:-

But to allow an easy choice on whether to go look at some small pictures or not I have put them on a web site.
I also read earlier that Jessie-Joe confessed to not having a web site.
and thought how sad! because another of my world-famous (read "to be read in the depths of Australia") planned "tutorials" will cover the complex subject of finding, using and creating one's very own absolutely free web site.
I have one at:-
http://h1.ripway.com/johnfowles/
There is a bland home page there, which has a link to download an Australian "Tourism" spoof that I think I got from that hooligan from Sydney Mr Atkins.
I have now uploaded a web page interpretation of Rex's email
It is at:-
http://h1.ripway.com/johnfowles/quarters/
Please visit that page and report back here with your reactions
John Fowles
OK I am well aware that to create that page required some knowledge of the web page
HyperText Markup Language i.e HTML for short
but another of my tutorials will.. you guessed it cover the fundamentals of HTML
(at least it will be an introduction to HTML that should be enough to get anybody interested started in writing their own pages) Promises Promises
P.S. I am today (Sunday) very pleased rhat Rex took the time to reply here after I emailed him and suggested he might like to read this topic
(edited 25 June to clarify my remark about the "police" and to thank Rex for dropping in

Very funny quarter designs! Much more clever than the actual designs from the US Mint. Thanks for sharing John. Has "The Rez" (Rex) given any reason for no longer posting here at Corfid? Tell him to come back, he's been missed!

Howdy Y'all . . .

Long time no type. Ain't no 'bout-a-doubt it, I wanna come out & play again soon.

I'm still at my post as Mama's Caregiver. Rough, but still Fullness of Joy. Online time is fleeting these past few months, but I've been able to shoot off the occasional "funny" to Sir Johnny.

I may be major behind on music projects, but I'm standin' tall as a floor-mopper. I'm discovering - more than I ever realized - how the smallest of gifts give back the most, when given in simple and honest love.

Mama's Dr.s are genuinely astonished she's still alive. I, to the contrary, know that ya' just cain't keep that Ol'Cherokee down. As I glance over to her this moment, smiling as she tries to figure out Wheel of Fortune puzzles, I'm blessed to know I made the right choice two weeks ago when her Dr. asked me if I should remove her from life support. I knew it was not the Lord's time for her to come home. Can't explain it, really, but I knew.

I do hope to be able to pop in now and again, rather than be totally absent. I miss this place and miss y'all - Big Time.

Did y'all check out the Loozianna "French Qtr?"
I'm partial to that one - don't know why.

Btw, I got my ticket to see Gord this August at Cerritos. Time will tell whether I'm able to go or not - all depends on Mama'a health. I figure, if I can't go - someone else will w/ my ticket. And, the blessing goes on.

Had to do that a few times these past 3 mo. but knew it was the peaceful thing to do - to bless someone else and be happy for that. Not to mope 'cause I got "robbed."

Keep laughin', too. Like Johnny says, "lighten up"can be a very good thing. Just like "the music" - laughter matters right to the soul.

Adios for now. Bless All Yer Great Big Hearts.

Rez

Your love and care of your mama, and the joy you take from that...humbling, and a lesson I can take with me on my own journey. Thanks for that. Hope you both continue to do well. Good to see you post.

Great to hear from you again, Rez. You are indeed a gifted and blessed man, and I'll bet your mama knows too!

Great to have you back, Rez (can I call you by your first name, "The"?). You know all of our prayers (those of us who aren't offended by those things--check out some prior posts) are with you and your mom. It's a great deed that you're doing; it must be a wonderful consolation to your mama knowing she raised such a loving son.
All the best,
DQ
