Did anybody catch Bruce Springsteen this morning on Good Morning America on ABC doing a live cut from his new album ("We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions")? He did "O Mary Don't You Weep" which sounded fabulous. If you go to http://abcnews.go.com/ look under the Entertainment and click on "Springsteen Brings R&B to Good Morning America | Jazz Fest' It runs about 7 minutes.

In an unfortunate instance of bad timing (just the way these things happen), Don Imus had Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler on his show this morning at almost the same time doing a couple of numbers from their new album, "All the Roadrunning." He's been playing the cut, "This Is Us," all week.

Thanks for the link Annie. Great stuff, a bit overwrought but that's Springsteen. Looked like the Weinburg 7 band plus about 20 others.
I was watching Emmylou and Mark on Imus. Really liked their performance.
The Dallas Morning News reviewed both CD's this morning. Gave "All the Roadrunning" a C and the Seegar sessions an A. I think they both were A's compared with the majority of the stuff I hear.

I listened to the clips at Amazon and liked it. No, it isn't like everybody else's folk renditions, but it is very well done. It might be sitting in my mailbox right now. It's the first Springsteen album I ever bought, I can say that (John, on the other hand, is a fan of his).

I have hoisted this back to the top to advise any 'Boss' fans that the man has recorded a live set for the BEEB which will be broadcast this Saturday 13th at 2100 British Summer Time (which is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time) on BBC Radio 2 available on the beeb's website www. bbc.co.uk/radio2 The recording will be available on the beebs 'listen again' feature on same website for at least 1 week after transmission. I beleive he concentrates his 'We Shall Overcome' songs. Should be good. I should warn our American friends, he is not very complimentary about Mr Bush, regarding the New Orleans disaster.
