I know that people are busy in the real world & all but I have to know, what's happened here. True this forum has always had less messages than the main board and that's to be expected. ...but it seems like a topic gets posted by someone and they get a few answers & replys, then it sort of burns out.
Unless it's a topic that really catches fire of course, most topics have under 10 replies.
Is it the choice of topic? To many "question" topic's? What? I would really like to know because I can't believe the Test Forum has had more posts in the past few days! That aint right!
Been me,later!

B,
I think it's mostly the "busy" thing. Many people who cruise by here do not even read "small talk". Why ? Probably because they're looking for Lightfoot stuff and smalltalk is supposed to be something else.

There seems to be nothing to talk about other than the new album, and they've talked that out, to.

I think people are doing lots of spring cleaning right now. Also, someone posted a political topic on here about a month ago, and a few people seemed a little hot under the collar, so maybe they are staying away.

Why get mad?, it's just a forum. I haven't seen Riffstorm lately.

"D":He was referring to the contents of that particular message making people mad. If it had been a face to face thing,well...he wouldn't have a face left most likely.
Hopefully, people didn't leave here just because of him. That'd be ridiculous.
Later!

He'll be lookin' like Micheal Jackson. He looks disfigured, like he was in a car-wreck or something.

I have just been checking out this site and came across some posting from April 2001. The discussion centred around Christian Island, and the comment made was that it was an Indian Reservation that was not very romantic. I am a resident of Beausoleil First Nation, located on Christian Island, yes, the Christian Island that Gord sings about. I must protest that Christian Island is a beautiful place to live. Our population is about 900 people on reserve. Our people are mainly Ojibwe, with some Pottowatami descent. We have our own churches, school, health and administration services. We have several restaurants, and one store. Christian Island is a mecca for tourism, as the beaches are unbelievable. We also have cottage areas on the island, as well as camping spots. Transportation is provided in most part by our vehicle ferry and/or passenger ferry to and from the mainland-Cedar Point (approx. 3 kilometers in distance). Christian Island or Chimnissing as we call it, is located in Southern Georgian Bay off of Lake Huron. Our nearest towns are Lafontaine, Penetanguishene, and Midland. I encourage everyone to check out "Chimnissing, or Beausoleil First Nation" on the web, if you are curious about our home. By the way, I dont believe that Gord has ever set foot on the Island, but we are proud of the song notheless. I grew up listening to Gordon Lightfoot, as my mother was a fan, and I would say he is one of my favourite artists. Thanks for hearing me out.

Proud Islander,I'm suree whomever left that message obviously doesn't know a nice thig when they see one.
I've never been to your island but I already know it has to be beautiful, otherwise Gordon would not have done a song about it.
Don't take offense at a 3 year old post. Truth be told,I have never heard of this post or read it. Any real GL fan would know better anyhow. Hoping to visit someday, its been me,Borderstone. Later!

I've never been to Christian Island but have been to Lafontaine many times - gorgeous area and beautiful beaches all along that way. I'm sure the island is more of the same.
One day 'll take a boat ride over.

proudislander thanks for posting, I looked it up on the internet and no wonder you are proud. I will be adding this to my list of places to visit next time I get to go to Canada. Which is hopefully soon.
Shazia hope you get to feeling better. What we'd give for a cure for the common cold. (or flu).

Hello again everyone,
thanks for the nice comments. Just wanted to
share my own Gordon Lightfoot concert experience. I went to see him with my mother when I was about 15 years old. At that time, I was into heavy rock...as most teenagers were at that time (in my 30's now). Needless to say it was without a doubt the best concert I have ever been to. No one can compare to Gordon Lightfoot, thats for sure. But he never did sing Christian Island....... I just wanted to repost about Gord as my first one was mostly about my home, and how could I forget to mention anything about the man himself. By the way for all canucks, CBC has a contest to nominate the greatest Canadian. Im sorry i dont have the address but it shouldnt be hard to find. Lets rally up support for him.

Hello
proudislander
I have to agree with you 120%
I grew up on the island as a cottager from the 60's to the 80's I have just gone back there after 30 years to see the Island again.
It is the most wondrful place in Ontario.
Please send me photo's of the Island if you have any
Cheers,
Mike
