Borderstone,

This deserved a few replies. I don't know if "one-hit wonder" applies to Mike Nesmith (who had hits with The Monkees and with his later song "Rio") or to Jim Henson (whose Kermit the Frog sang "The Rainbow Connection"). Can't say I've heard of the others. Here in Australia, we had a similar list. I hope you add the 1980s etc to these posts.

B,

If you call my cell phone right now you will hear my ringback tone is Mississippi Queen! A lot more to Mountain than that one song though, lol.

Good list though.

Sorry this all took so long guys but,now it's done! YAY! I'm off today and i got on a PC that copies & pastes without "seperating" the titles from each-other. In other words, they copied as they look above.

Last thing,I'm pleased to report,I now own 228 of these 348 One hit Wonders!
Just 120 to go. ( Did I say "just"? )

Anyhow, enjoy reading the lists and I'll see you all soon! Bye now.

it all depends where you live. some of those artists arent one-hit wonders at all. i cant see Band of gold from Freda Payne there... that was a one hit wonder

Well,I strictly go bby the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop-chart.

As most may know,Casey Kasum hosted a rdio show called American
Top 40 and those 40 songs came from the "forty" on that chart (#'s 40 to #1).

Some people feel,if you make the chart but not the top 40,it still counts as a "very mioner hit. To me,if you miss the top 40,it really is something most will forget,or have already forgotten.

I did have to erase "Save Your Kisses For Me" by Brotherhood Of Man from '76. Since they also had "United We Stand" in 1970. Different members but same name.

I'm sure ELP's "Lucky Man" was a big hit overseas but here in the states,it only made it to #48. "From the Beginning",however, slipped in at #39. No others made the top 40.

Freda Payne, again in the U.S. had 2 more hits after the #3 hit "Band Of Gold". (#1 in UK)

"Deeper And Deeper" #24 in 1970 (#33 UK) and "Bring The Boys Home" #12 in early 1971. (Didn't chart in UK.)

Then, strangely, nothing after that (both U.S. & overseas. Only making the Hot 100 3 more times.

P.S. - A late reply to Dave in Melbourne. I don;t know about other countries but Nesmith only had one solo hit here (With his "National band") "Joanne" hit #21 in 1970.

Charlene,as far as "Rainbow Connection" goes,in my top 40 book, the credit goes (As it should) to Jim Henson. He voice Kermit and also Ernie on "Rubber Duckie". While the labels said Kermit and also Ernie,in reality it's two hits for Jim Henson.

(My condolences to the Henson family for their recent loss by the way.)
