There are obvious simularities between these two wonderful artists. My most wonderful memories that have soundtracks provided by these artists. I remember singing Northwest Passage in the jungles of Guyana, and humming and singing through Canadian Railway Trilogy while hitch hiking across Australia. Whenever I hear a guitar play through either of their songs I look longingly into the distance. Poets.
I would have liked to had a beer with Stan. 45 Years played at my wedding- only becasue Sundown wasn't appropriate..
I'm going to have to agree with you on this one...(any good canadian would). I grew up on these boys and they hold nothing but fond memories. It was a sad day when stan passed away, but like gord the music will always live on.
By brother and sister in law turned me on to Stan Rogers while they were living in Halifax. Two of his songs in particular are my favorites-Make and Break harbor and Rowdon Hills.
I understand his brother Garnett is quite talented but I have never heard any of his work.Does he have any good songs to recommend?
Garnet Rogers has produced some fantastic music. It must have been difficult as he tried to get beyond the shadow of his brother.
I really enjoy his personal tribute to Stan- Night Drive. It shows a glimpse of their relationship. Driving across the "flat part of Canada" myself, I can relate to the dark nights and the light from the dash board.
