It's a good picture, but doesn't even come close to representing how wonderful that painting is! I found myself just mesmerized by it. First of all, it's huge, probably 4'x3'. As i was standing there examining the details, Liam did a bit of explaining which really enhanced my enjoyment of the picture. He painted it after Terry passed away, and did some crackling around Terry which doesn't appear anywhere else. Then he put a subtle black line seperating Terry from the rest of the group. I noticed that both of Terry's guitars are with him and Gords are not.
I think Liam captured beautifully the angle of both Terry and Rick's heads, something we've all seen dozens of times. And even the red velvet jacket works.....Again, I don't know when I've been captured by a piece of art as much as I was by this. Liam said he's looking at having prints made, just hope that comes to pass.

you're right - the texture adds a great dimension to the painting and it really has to be seen to be appreciated. I'll get on Ron and Liam to see if getting prints made is feasible..perhaps not 4 x 3 but somewhat smaller. I'd love to have one..

I thought it was one of the door prizes, as well as all the other goodies! Lol

What a gift. I think a textured print needs to go to GL

and the rest of the attending audience, Oprah style

In case any have been in a coma the past decade, this is father Ron (also a mild Gord fan)

I was hoping son would hop up to the mic for some harmonies during one of father's heartfelt renditions. Or play guitar, or both.

Enjoy, Ron. and congrats Liam. Jack Bush would've dug this.

Yes, prints would be lovely. I too initially thought it was going up as some kind of door prize LOL But it has a good home.

That painting is almost haunting. It captures the very essence of what we've all witnessed so many times. Gord and the boys at work.
The subtle treatment of Terry makes it even more stirring.
Hat's off to the artist..

Thanks so much Brian.

Liam doesn't post a lot here. He'd rather take the time painting, so I'll pass along the compliments.

We hoped to have you with us during the celebrations but at the same time understanding that it's not always easy and we sometime fall on hard times.

But we look forward to the future and try and improve on what we've done in the past and I realize more and more each day just how much support we have from the many friends who have come our way through the music of Gordon Lightfoot.

It's either a feast or a famine it seems and the Massey shows just happened to coincide for me with the move from Vancouver to Toronto.
We hope to be living back there by the end of June to be closer to family and friends, and more so to connect and play tunes with the many talented folks who live there.

Hopefully we can find some way to have you join us, or even better, us to join you.

Those guitars will be on a daily basis: "intoned."

Take good care,

Ron J.

Liam tells me he's onto it Char.

He's secured a photographer who specializes in photographing oil paintings so the wheels are turning.

At present the painting is hanging in the dining room of Greg's (younger son) dining room in Aurora. I've missed it immensely since I returned to Vancouver just two days ago even.

When we find a new place to live in Ontario I'll have it hanging in the living room and anywhere else I can find space to fit in a print.

Every time I look at that painting, it sings a thousand songs back to me and those thousand songs bring back a thousand memories.

Maybe there's another song there in those thoughts as this day draws to a close.

Best to all,

RJ.

Hi Folks.
An update on the painting:
Liam tells me he received a call from Early Morning Productions regarding a request to have prints of the painting available and they have given him the green light as long as the prints are not being sold for profit.
In his letter to them he stated that he would only need to recover the costs incurred in order to make the prints available.
The original painting is presently in the caring Whitby, Ontario home of Char until Marian and I get a permanent place to settle here in Ottawa.

All is well that ends well.

RJ.
