Charlotte O'Dell

During the eighties, when I lived near Detroit, I used to listen to a Canadian radio station that broadcast, late at night, a program called Tapestry, hosted by Charlotte O'Dell (I believe that's the spelling).

It was a WONDERFUL show, mixing music and poetry, and her voice was GORGEOUS. I taped a few, and fifteen or so years later they remain absorbing.

Do any of you (Canadians) know what became of Charlotte O'Dell? Are her tapes available commercially? Did any of you ever hear her programs and adore them as much as I?

Those late nights by the radio are some of the fondest memories of my youth...

I remember that show..and the Candlelight and Wine show too..I used to listen to CHFI all the time..even at work..I just got rid of a bunch of the Candlelight and Wine alums at a garage sale..loved Stuart Hill on CHFI..

I've got about six or seven half-hour segments of episodes on tape, (which I've now transferred to mp3) in varying quality. The full show appears to have been about an hour long. Some of the material was poetry and some was text. As I recall it ran on Sunday nights.

I liked the show so much I modeled my Podcast Ping podcast after it. (http://podcastping.blogspot.com) However, Podcast Ping uses podsafe music instead of radio music and just about all the readings are of my own poetry. (It's sort of a reformat to make it podsafe.) Still, I wanted others to enjoy a similar experience.

It should be possible to get some info about her by contacting CHFI, since the station is still in operation. Whether or not they have current contact info is unclear.

CHFI is still about the only station I'll listen to if I do have a radio on. It used to be CHUM way back when but in 77 or so I started tuning into CHFI at work..

Magic 104 is the station I listen to most here in Moncton, because they play Lightfoot.
