OK,

The pickers have been a bit quiet.

What's everybody working on now?

My new D-28 has brought Minstrel of the Dawn back to me. And Looking at the Rain, plus Inspiration Lady for a new one.

Then there's Restless, (if I can get the first bridge right,) Miguel which is a lot of fun.

High and Dry on the 12, plus a getting very confident on CRRT.

I'm just basically trying to relearn what I knew before the aneurysm. I remembered all the chords, but forgot everything I ever knew about finger picking. It's slowly coming back now. Sometimes I'll be playing a song, and some little thing will just pop into my head, like an area of my brain just kicked into overdrive or something.
I'm working on Sit Down Young Stranger, SFAWN, IYCRMM, DQ.

Minstrel is one of my ol favs. Mike ,but I have not tackled it yet, though it is on the list. Been workin on All the Lovely Lady's,another ol fav...
I have this bad habit that I have to QUIT..I start workin on one,I get the basic jest of it down, then find myself movin on to another...I gotta stop that. Bad habit.

Someday, if it's like it's been in the past, it works kind of like a song circle in that everyone takes turns choosing, playing and singing a song and anyone who knows it joins in. And just to warn you, they don't limit the songs to Lightfoot songs. Some of our players are great songwriters and play originals for us (if I recall correctly, you have some originals yourself that you might share? We'd love to hear them) and some of the players also choose songs by other songwriters who they find inspirational - John Prine is one who comes to mind.

As talented as all you players are, I would say that just about any song you brush up on, someone there is bound to know it and be willing to play it

John, I didn't realize that you played! It must be a great sense of loss not to be able to do so anymore, but at least you are still with us and that is the most important thing. I'm sure our guitar playing Lighthead friends enjoy that you can "play vicariously" through them.

I don't play - I've long since forgotten the only three chords I ever half-assed knew - but I still think that is a very fine collection of music books and I wouldn't mind having them myself.

I can't even imagine what it must be like not being able to play, John. It affected me for awhile, but I've always been able to see progress. I'm still having a bit of trouble hanging on to a pick, though. I need to buy some with finger grips on them.

Ever thought of trying to relearn left handed?

Cathy
