Default Edward Fitzgerald - The Wreck parody

The guys over at Third Base Politics have done an hilarious cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", covering the collapse of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ed Fitzgerald.

I guess, with his name being Ed FitzGerald, they just couldn't help themselves.

I could picture an American political satire group, called "The Capitol Steps" (based in Washington, DC) doing a song parody similar to this on a multitude of topics. We've seen them many times, and they skewer everyone!

I'm sure if I was privy to the topical content this song covers, I'd have loved it. But as a mostly non-interested citizen of a Western State I could care less about Eddie Fitz and his political story. Gordon's original lyric, on the other hand, from the first time I really remember truly LISTENING to it back in around 1985, captivated me to no end.

I will say this was a pretty good musical cover of the song, but my cynical side has to wonder if the music came from one of the many Karaoke companies over the years.
