On an old topic, someone asked why Gordon re-recorded his songs when he put out Gord's Gold. I always thought it was because United Artists "owned" the old recordings...am I out to lunch?

That could be one reason but an even better one could be he just wanted to. "70's" them up,you might say. That's my take.

He didn't like the way he sounded with United Artists, so he wanted to see how they would sound with Warner Bros.

Yep, '70's 'em up means hire Lee Holdridge to arrange the strings. Just ask John Denver...oh, well you can't...just take my word for it...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (as I'm sure you will), but wasn't Triangle on GGII a different recording from the original recording on Shadows?? I remember on the Shadows version at the part where it goes:
"and a mighty fine way to be found" and the end of the note on the word found didn't go up (although I always sang it as if it did..drove me nuts that it didn't). When GGII came out, I felt vindicated the note went up. Different version.

Yes. It's a different recording. Tracks #2-14 were re-recordings.
