It's about that temp where I am and the snow is softly falling. Here's the scene:

You're on a family ski trip. The car is crammed with your 3 kids, the dog, your spouse, mother-in-law, and all your gear. Six pair of skis are on the roof. By the time you reach Boulder, it's a blizzard. Through the headlights you see a figure by the highway with a sign that just says "Mother." As you get closer, you're looking hard through the snow...it can't be!! It's Gordon Lightfoot!!! It's 10 degrees and getting colder...
What do you do???

Oh, that's easy . . . I'd strap my mother-in-law up on the car's roof along with the 6 pair of skis, and offer the great one a lift! What else?!?!?!?!

Mary Ann
ps: I guess it's a good thing that I don't have a mother-in-law, huh?

What'll you do? You stop and bring him
in! You make room somehow. What you dont do
is drive past him! It'll be a lot warmer
with Gord in the car. He sits up front with
the driver and entertains with a few songs,
while in the back wifey is gently running
her fingers thru his curls (oops - sorry -
wrong song), kids have stopped being monsters
so totally in awe of this magical being who
has entered their lives and ma-in-law cant
believe he has just turned and winked at her
while singing: ForLovin' Me'.
Well - something like that anyway. LOL

I stop the car, let the freak show do their own thing in Boulder, and it's just me and Gord, hitchin' down the Hiway, and I don't care how cold it is...

(just kidding, honey...)

lol

OOOHHHHHHH HOW I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A SCENE LIKE THIS MY WHOLE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!
I leave the entire family on the side of the highway with the skis and luggage and point them in the direction of Boulder. I (and the dog) offer to drive Gord back to Canada on the condition that he sing every song he's ever written. The trip should take about 5 days. This could be a sequel to my Steven King movie "Misery."

Kathy, maybe if you drive no faster than 45mph you could stretch it to a week!

You guys are kinda scary. Misery II? What about the rest of us? LOL.

And would you kidnap a poor boy who wanted to see his mom?

By the way, when I was hitching in north France in 1976 in the middle of the winter (below zero, but that was Celsius), I was standing by the highway with a sign that just said "S.V.P." The kind traveler who stopped thought the sign was quite amusing. He, of course, recognized me as American but stopped anyway because I had asked politely in French. My sign was inspired in part by "10 Degrees," a simple plea rather than a destination.
