Default CBC Q-Sunday Nov.4-Lightfoot-TV version-performs I'll Tag Along!

Hopefully the online clip will eventually include his performance of I'll Tag Along..it was beautiful... just The Man, a guitar and a song. oh yeah.

As A.Lincoln said - People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like.

thx for the headsup, char! always great when Gord (or anybody) drops in to see Jian

TG, did they finally also post the ITA performance? i recall their April chat, A1

Jian got Gord to talk more about songwriting than most I've heard

i think if Gord had written a song about Clackers (clicking balls together) then it might have gone viral, more so than his Hula Hoop effort

we will have to "washboard" the full set of lyrics out of him on his birthday! lol

char, i enjoyed the interview with Finkelstein very much...Jian + Bernie = nice

i guess Q stands for Question so here's mine:

What song on the new live Gord CD has the guitar error???

i think George and Jian are much alike...and well prepared interviewers

Jian is from my hometown (no, I am not Persian)

ok, both George and I were at Massey where Jian and his pals opened for Dylan

...me, not into Moxy...it was odd...it was kinda like if BNL opened had for Cohen

.

There is also a great deal of interesting comments by Gord about the songwriting process in that "Lightfoot Forwards" segment.I found that the upload has now had its original soundtrack restored by YouTube

Too bad it has an annoying spot right in the middle of the video

Boy, watching that interview, you realize what a different plane Gord is on compared to most of us. He's comfortably free of most of the "static" we "regular" people contend with. Yes, there's been a lot of static in his life, but at this point it seems he's been able to filter it out. What a great way to spend the autumn and winter of one's life. I hope I get there someday.

i second that .... i guess he likely can't recall much of his summer side of life

i don't suppose Clodagh Rodgers ever recorded one of Gord's early tunes???

he did a real nice, job...dont know why they waited so long to post the video

maybe Gord appeared on agreement that they would defer showing video (rather than lone audio) til just before Massey as a promo

jian was surprised he wouldn't pick a track off the recent release but he said he was there without band (and he also enjoyed the guitar parts...at this point, Gord can do what he wants, lol)

but others actually off the Live release, that would have help up solo, as he has proven before:

Let It Ride (did it at Live 8)
Restless (ditto)
Shadows (it wouldn't suffer much w/o the lead...he did it acoustically at SHOF gig)
Fine As Fine Can Be (i like the new arrangement w/guitar pickin' instead of piano)
Christian Island (oh, i would have liked to hear that...all verses too)

should see it up online shortly...i still picture him singing ITO sitting down

He did an awesome job.. LOVE how he starts with his eyes closed. I actually was surprised (but THRILLED as you can imagine ) that he didn't do Restless..

I DO too - I think I fell really hard for the song after seeing that video of him sitting ont he stool at Massey singing it...oh my...then he saunters out the stage door and out into the city.. LOVE it!!!!!!!!!

http://www.cbc.ca/player/Shows/ID/2300455569/ - LIVE performance of I'll Tag Along at about the 41:46 mark after the chat...the chat at this link starts @ 33:00 and is only 8 minutes long. at the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=mX10D5lkPpA - 29 minutes of interview only. recorded in april 2012.

oh my, they cut off Gordie before he was done! but thanks SO much, char

that reminds me of when they 1979 PBS Soundstagers cut off CRT after the credits

well lit, nice clear video...i think dissolve edits would have been more soothing rather than straight cuts....to suit the soothing rendition

well, Gord's had 7 months to go out and get a Massey trim....i guess he likes a style that covers his ears ...and that style calls for a lot of hair!

well, i think i do...and i am sorry i missed that era...i think i would have got into a lot of trouble...and probably would have walked into many sidewalk sign posts

but mister Fowles, the elder, my link has relevance (unlike yours-es....that must be how you spell the plural form) ...Gord mentions trying to get the skirted Rodgers to sing one of the songs he penned during his 5 month writing flurry in UK....and because of your rudeness, I will not provide the time coordinates of this reference in his interview

why yes, two can play this game

but seriously, hope to see ya next week, mate

I just think it is interesting to get Gord to open up about the Realty thing! Stuff he just ignores or tosses off as unimportant is the stuff fans want to know. A very interesting process.

Remember the Monty Python episode where Clodagh Rodgers was a recurring joke..
...CLODAGH ROGERS?

glad you are safe and back joining in these 'heated' discussions, JF

Rob, that was the Jack in the Box tune... I'd post it but don't' want to risk taking this further off topic...I like the musical diversions actually, especially in the Small Talk forum
