On Aug 22, I will hit the big 60. To celebrate, the next day I am driving 400 miles from Texas to Salina, Kansas to hear Gord in concert. Have been a fan for many years and attended a lot of concerts in San Francisco area in the 70's. I haven't heard him live since his last concert in Texas, which was probably 10 or 12 years ago in Ft. Worth. As far as I know this is the first concert he has ever given in Kansas. It's been a long dry spell! Is anyone else going?

Steve,

It's a few days early - but Happy Birthday!! I am thrilled by the prospect of seeing him in San Diego on the 31st, so I can imagine how you must be feeling. (I'll be traveling from NH to see him in CA)

Enjoy yourself at the concert and you must tell us all about it...We'll be waiting!

BTW, where is Plano? I have family in Olton (up in the panhandle, not far from Plainview)

Hi Janice,

I'm from NH, too, near Plymouth. How about you?

Did you get to see Gordon back around 1992-93 when he came and played at the Hampton Beach Casino and Loon Mountain?

Steve, We all understand how you feel about seeing him. I, like, Jan, will be traveling from the east coast to see him in San Diego to see him. (Also my grandchildren) I sincerely hope that our friends in England get another chance to see him soon. I have seen him twice this season but the third time is just as exciting. Have a wonderful time.

Hi GD,

I'm in Manchester and no, I missed both shows in 1992-93
Were you able to make either or both of them?

Dear Janice,

I got to see the show at the Hampton Beach Casino. The Casino is very small, not a bad seat in the house, and the seats are not reserved, just first-come, first-served. So my mother and I got there an hour early, nursed some expensive drinks, but had a front-row view.

Gord was hot! It was rather embarassing, though, that at first I didn't recognize him. I had only seen his picture on the covers of albums from the seventies, and by '92 his look had changed quite a bit. At first we thought he was the starting act! But the show was awesome, his voice was just as good as on the records, and we got to hear several songs from the then-new "Waiting For You" album. After that, a few radio stations tryed playing "Wild Strawberries", but to no success with the general public, of course.

I feel lucky to have seen him in NH; maybe someday he will come back...

Janice,
Plano is a large suburb of Dallas, just north of Big D. It's a straight shot up interstate 35 to Salina, so an easy drive.
I'm originally from Kansas, Barton Co., so I make the trip quite a bit. After Gord, my brother and I are going off to Colorado, near Estes Park for a little trout fishing.

GD,

Lightfoot was in NH last summer in Portsmouth, as I recall (7/24/99?). By the time I learned of the concert it was sold out. Last spring he was in Northampton, MA - an easy ride from Manchester. I just saw that he is scheduled next spring in Storrs, CT, also an easy ride from where you live. The long and short is that he is touring the New England region regularly. Watch the schedule and grab some tickets, you won't be disappointed!

Oh yes, I live in northern CT between Hartford and Springfield.

Hi Buddy,

Yeah, I tried getting tickets to that Portsmouth concert, too, but they were sold out. I think they promoted that concert quite a bit on the radio...

Hey Steve!
I was at that concert in Ft. Worth on the second row! I was living in University Park by SMU (I was in grad school). I used to play gigs at Poor David's Pub. Saw Gord for the first time since then just a couple of weeks ago in Virginia.
