Sounds smart and fun to me, Lynn. I'll shoot for that unless any one speaks different about it for consideration. Thanks...

Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !
HERE IS A FINAL UPDATE FOR 8:30 pm.,Mon.,Feb. 2nd, 2009
YOU GOT THEM ALL DONE ! YOU GUYS DID IT , ON A TOUGH LIST.
LYNN AND oTJ DEPLOY BRAINTRUST THINKTANK TACTICS AND TURN IN AN
IMPRESSIVE RESPONSE.
Its also nice to welcome another Vistory Warrior - oTJ - aka Tomcat in YouTube - into the game as 'oTJ' !
JENNEY, AFTER A FRUSTRATING TURN ON Q318 ....Peace.... , TOOK A SHOT AT THIS REAL TOUGHY, AND MISSED, NO DOUBT DUE TO THE UNUSUAL NATURE OF THE PROPER NOUN CLUE OF ....Peace MID-VERSE ? HER SHOT ON THIS RARE CASE OF A PROPER NOUN THAT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT SHOULD BE ONE, & MID-SENTENCE ..MISSED , BUT SHE THEN NAILED THE BIG-GAME ON A REAL-TOUGHY, Q317 'Betty Called Me In' from the clue '....this crying' ,a very hard question ! its of course one of the 'rarities' found in Songbook !
Ron took aim at his common 2 or 3, leaving plenty of others, as a courtesy to fellow players, while I have no doubt he held a few answers in reserve. His last shot was at a moving target with a proper noun capped.Q318 ....Peace.... , which was a moving target because it was the Peace River, from his admittedly favorite song, Canary Yellow Canoe. He enthusiastically cites the reasons for it being his favorite song as: " well, it has that classic Lightfoot sound, slow acoustic guitar sound to it, soaring vocals, a good one-guitar song for around the campfire, slow and lazy sounding...LIKE A RIVER! THAT'S WHY ! - fascinating geographic feature names in the rivers, but what I don't get is: Why do many of these rivers flow North ?
RON explains further: -"Like the McKenzie, flowing UP to its mouth at Beaufort Bay, at the northerly terminus of Northwest Territories. I thought all rivers flowed DOWN, you know, down on the map... is South ! I think 'down' river is South only below the equator, like Australia. I'm quite sure all the rivers flow 'UP' to the equator, because all geographic phenomenon are backwards below the equator. Like compasses point to Ayers Rock there I think, cause they have no magnetic north down there you know. And they have to turn maps upside down; down there.Thats all I have to say. So shut up and get on with the game." OK RON !....you rascal you ! Play on we will, and thank YOU for turning in two very difficult questions. lol -(OK fun is fun, but I made up this response from Ron!)
I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS DIFFICULT LIST OF 10 WE'RE DONE WITH !
All songs can be found in Lightfoot.ca under Lyrics/Chords.
All songs are in the 'main 20 albums'

Q331 Sometimes .... = 'Sometimes I Don't Mind' ? = yes! Correct. And, in fact the intended song to boot ! Time for mead and merriment !
Thanks for playing oh noble, wise, yet humble Knight. Your jouney has fortuitously included a stop in our humble village. You engaged us in a game of lyrical jousting, and you won. Once again, we see that the word and the pen art mightier than the shword. We call our humble village Chancealot, repleat with a 2-star restaurant and AAA-rated rooms with mini-bars and straw beds that shake for a quarter ! Doth your Quest permit a lay-over ?
Please stay for the dance of fair maidens around the bonfire, or perhaps try your hand at the Gauntlet. The first man who makes it through wins a kiss from the Queen. Only problem, we do not have a Queen, Or a King. In fact, we are a lawless bunch of anarchists. Give us you money, your shword, and your steed. Then be on your way until you come back and we shall Welcome You as a King ! ...I'll post your X Mende, thanks for playing !

Hi oTJ, your very workable 'ambig' - (a song that works, is not the intended song in steve's notes, but would win the clue, if it were the first submission) was a hair after joveski's. So joveski wins it by timing. The fact that his song was the intended song makes no diffference over yours, he just submitted a working song first. Sorry oTJ

Thanks Lynn.
uh-oh, I am having a blabberty-fit on a philosophical approach to the game being just for fun, with non competitiveness. If you want to by-pass my brain-sneeze, simply drop down this post to the good ole' Yellow BACK TO BIZ below ! ...lol
How are you today Lynn ? You're well on your way to a majority victory in this list. whoops - I caught myself...this a only a game for fun w/o winners or losers. But... I remind myself, as a group we do not want to try and engender a competitive situation, and the all-too-common unfortunate ends it can take. I speak only of my view point; I think I ought to simply speak out in my oft mini - blah-blah's and at times BIIIG bla-blahs,(sorry Lynn) we are here to have fun first and foremost ! so I choose to mid-course self-correct to speaking much less with cloying sports analogies and cliche'd competitive rousting locker-room motivational speaches.....
In turn then, speak of what I read into Lightfoot's philosophy via my own attempt at interpreting his via his lyrics; complicated thought it may be, he speaks more of simply happiness and sadness, joy and sorrow, and the occassional in-between ethereal purely philosophical or spiritually-focused songs, (to name a few), which he has far more the eloquence than I in. Nor would it be as a group norm reccomended to go into the three things we are taught to avoid talking of in social settings. The third becomes ambiguous in many families. In mine I'll simply state the most common fist two frequently taught: I'll avoid politics &religion, and add avoiding a competitive mentality, as I have mildly been pushing in the blah-blah block area above x-files.
Rather, I'll avoid those land-mine strewn and innappropriate-for-this-thread subjects, and sports cliches, and lame tired old motivational rah-rahs I caught myself slippping into (the latter two). I will speak enthusiastically of simply having ....a breather...a good time w/o consequences. Put simply... while the thread does hit the gas pedal on heavy thinking, it is for simply having fun; no winners, no loosers, just fun gaming and mild escapism, all admirable and I hope no down-side - pure intelligent fun. This all pertains again simply to me catching myself on rolling down the wrong tracks -rah-rah sports metaphors and sense of competitiveness in my talkety block areas, and here in the unfortunate recipient of my ex-cogitations in what could be a simply be a 'yes !', or 'no...sorry response' - to your submission oTJ. Sorry about this; I had to get it out of my system. I saw my blah-blah blocks between 'UPDATE' and the x-file block getting strewn with cliches and non germane discourse to...just..having...fun.. I have to do this periodically oTJ, or I suffer a mind implosion, and all who suffer in a ten-minute radiius !..lol..
Back to BIZ:
ok:
1st:Q330 Reminds... = 'Bells of the Evening' ? Yes, it sure does !
"Reminds me of the redwoods and moss covered ground"
2nd - Q335 .... woodland, water .... = Pussywillows, Cat Tails ? Yep !
"Rainpools in the woodland, water to my knees"
two more 'REMAINS UNANSWERED' - down, 2 to go !
Thank you Lynn for putting us 2 closer to a full board, and for having the dubious distinction of being the recipient of my blabberties simply by it occurring while I was in response mode to your post ! - and Thanks for playing !

oTJ didn't give me the answers! Honest!! LOL
Now, I'm not sure about this one, because the one I think it could be might have been capitalized and had .... after it. It depends on who's transcribing the lyrics. Another one of my vistories.
Q327 .... at dawn
Miguel

Thank you for the tip on my significant duhhhness...lol I DO know Lynn is 4Lane, and you, oTJ, are from TomCat . I guess I had a brain-sneeze. We may never know. I'm good to go, all systems go for the next etymological entrant. I'll fix the x-files to reflect Lynn, and oTJ, hats off to you in your honesty. Somehow, I get the feeling that the loss of two Big-X'es of yours is not a major blow. But......if you get real down in the dumps, I'm here for the whole team, in times of trial and tribulation. So if you get to where you feel life is not worth living due to this......please feel free to PM me, or call my people, leave a voice mail or something, uh ? lol....j/k around - we're here for ya. Ciao

Q327 .... at dawn
Miguel
Like a shadowy ghost at dawn he came and he went
|
Hi Lynn ! I made the differentiation correctly, so I thought I would tastefully indicate this, discretely so that no undue attention is drawn to the fact that I forgot for one post you are 4Lane, and oTJ is TomCat !
I'm good now. So a, oTJ says YOU (snicker) got this answer w/o his help (a hahaha) OK, I'm buyin', I'm wit ya. Hit me with it. I'm a I'm all ears, you dig ?
OK tseeer,
Q327 .... at dawn = Miguel ?
OK Lynn I'lll drop the phony 'deal-cutter' from Die-Hard 1 the guy that thought he'd 'cut a deal with the Euro-somethings in the Nakamichi Tower. I hope that got a laugh out of you, dispite how obtuse it was. So - here is the way its Shown in our datum of reference - Lightfoot.ca:
"Like a shadowy ghost at dawn he came and he went"
Since the dot rules say .... at dawn , with no dots after players are to assume that it must be found at the end of a verse line (sentence).
In this case, there are more lyrics after 'at Dawn' so... I am sorry Lynn, the
boyz, they'll breaka my legs if I give you dis one capiche ? lol - I am sorry Lynn. But its the same way everyone else picked up the finer points of the dot rules which I've managed to condense to this:
Q997 ....cool words .... - means there have to be lyrics on both sides.
Q998 .... cool words - means the words given are at the END of the verse
Q999 Cool words.... - means the words given have to be the start of verse.
So your case - Q327....at dawn fits the Q997 model, at dawn would have to be at the end of the verse. It would have to read like this to work:
Like a shadowy ghost he came and he went at dawn " w/ dawn at end. . Sorry about that, Lynn. Don't feel bad - everybody learned them that way. You've picked up everything so fast - I'm amazed you went so far without a learning oops'er. Tell oTJ it didn't work - lol j/k !
I also understand about 'who's transcribing' - because a LOT of Gords verse go like this: Cool words cool words, Cool words cool words.
And almost everyone at one point or another assumed the comma in the middle, as in the verse from Miguel, ws the end of a verse, especially when just listening (the admirable way) - but looking up in lightfoot.ca to checjk your answer is now considered absolutely fine to do. I know a lot of his songs sound like a verse end where Lightfoot.ca shows commas. Anyway - if another 'offical EMP release of lyrics or something like that shows them stacked narrrow and tall, with commas at the end, it;d work. But for now, we gotta go with Lightfoot.ca. One time Char caught an error in Lightfoot.ca - in the RobinHood song everyone is embarrassed by ( men in tights) - the song clearly said when heard: with suits the shade of evergreen. But lightfoot.ca said it was the 'sheen' of everbreen. So its been disproved once to my knowledge. hEY oH WELL another clue.... you'll get it. for Q327, I'll give
everyone who reads this the 2nd clue on Q327:
- The intended song is one of Gord's 'most ethereal songs' by his words, and Kefara found it very interesting - with Gordon using a literary tool to indicate relationships love lostas ghosts - that appear in so many songs, he also said the song had very cool chords in it, and this song had chords Lightfoot had 'never used before, very cool, very cool' . One last hint - moss-covered ( ). Happy hunting Lynn.
