We actually saw Gordon in LA (@ Universal Amphitheater) that summer (we were out west in Western Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Las Vegas, & LA). We were on vacation, and found out that he was in town, so we HAD to go (even though we already had tickets to see him @ Garden State Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ the following weekend once we were back). You can never get enough of him, eh? Anyway, thanks for this link. Even though he didn't sing this one for us, it's cool to have a video of it. Thanks a bunch!

Gail

Cool! I didn't see him for the first time until 1987.

Our first time seeing him actually goes back to July 1977 in Philadelphia, PA. Some other cool things about the concert in LA. I remember that the Universal Amphitheater stage had trees on it - a pretty sight! Secondly, I was very impressed with the local audience. People were requesting "album track" songs - the ones you would only know if you were familiar with the entire albums/CDs. In other words, these people were familiar with lots of his songs, not just the hit singles!

There have been a slew of rare gord song videos appearing here nowadays
Mostly cobbled together from assorted images and video clips by Char's favourite visualiser attaremad
I suspect that a few fans here would like to save the sound tracks of some of them.In particular the rare Magic Minstrel Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eVKGiBRwtU,
In My Time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdp9MaUIDW8
and now this 1978 performance per Wayne's site on 22 August 1978 of the great song by Red Shea's brother Les, otherwise available as a "studio" recording used as the soundtrack backing for two scenes of the Harry Tracy movie and for those lucky enough to have it an ultra rare televised recording,as Char put it in her coment on a My Love for You YouTube video page at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijaB1pEONLY
Char commented
"
I have a tv recording of Gordon singing it at a Canadian awards show years ago. He was sitting on a stool wearing a red velvet jacket beside a woman playing the piano. It's terrific."
Char could you try to make a video file of it then upload it to YouTube for all to enjoy
there are sundry comments on other threads about making mp3s from these YouTube "videos".
For what its worth I have googled and found that there are indeed freeware programs to do just that but even easier and quicker there are several online conversion websites the first one I tried failed miserably but thefollowing site works a treat:-
http://convert2mp3.net/en/
you only have to paste in the YouTube URL select the quality wait a very short time then download. But note that the original might be only an mp3 itself so don't expect audiophile quality results!!
There are now a heap of corfid threads concerning My Love For You
here are a pair:-

are these the trees??

In fact it looks like they are no more because
(as found by Mr Google)
on a page dated April 2014 headed
Gibson Amphitheatre Marked for Demolition in September
"The Gibson Amphitheatre, a popular concert venue since opening in 1972 as the Universal Amphitheatre, will be leveled as early as October to make way for a Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood."That Potter feeler gets everywhere!!

Nice. :>) Thanks for that.

Still like "Harry Tracy" version a bit more though.

I don't remember palm trees (I do remember some other kinds of trees, not necessarily tropical ones), but wow have things changed!

I searched for images of trees on the actual stage but found none but I did find this proof that the venue has been or at least was being demolished!!

Wow-a Lightfoot song that I didn't know, although if its from the Harry Tracy movie I'd heard about it before. Thanks for the treat, another beautiful song from GL.

^ A beautiful song, even though he didn't write it. It sounds like the kind of song he would/could write!

i am so very sad that the Universal Amphitheatre has been demolished. I saw my first Gordon lightfoot concert there with my mom. I saw many more in that venue, including several in the series of shows he did in Los Angeles during the 70's. I even had a minor auto accident on the offramp at Universal going to one of the shows in 1979!.
as for this song, if I heard it back then, I don't remember it. pretty song.
