He began promptly at 8 pm with
1. Something ethereal "Sea of Tranquillity"
2. "Don Quixote"
3. "Shellfish" - the song of staying motivated; this was one of the 3-4 new ones mentioned
4. "In My Fashion" - in good voice on this!
5. "Beautiful" Lots of oohs, sighs and snuggling
6. "The House You Live In" - Mom's favourite
7. "Sundown"
He talked about the anthology and the 18 rareties, and said he had written the next song 38 years ago during his first marriage.
8. "Heaven Don't Deserve Me" drew much laughter
9. "Never Too Close" was just lovely
10. "Restless"
11. "No Hotel" - a real toetapper
12. "Ribbon of Darkness" - a treat to hear!
13. "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

Intermission

14. "All the Lovely Ladies"
15. "Uncle Toad Said"
16. "Let It Ride"
Lots of folks (too many!) were shouting out requests, so he didn't (couldn't) talk as much after intermission.
17. "Nighttime" - I *really* like this one!!
18. "Shadows" - soo nice
19. "If You Could Read My Mind"
Introduce the Band
20. "A Painter Passing Through" was terrific
21. "Baby Step Back"
22. "Canadian Railroad Trilogy"
23. "Old Dan's Records"

Encore

24. "Early Morning Rain"

For all that there are songs I'd like to hear, some more than others, I'd like best to hear his choices in what he would like best to sing.

Hi Ellen - many thanks for the excellent job you did in capturing the set list. It will help me ingrain forever this lovely evening in my memories...

My husband and I were at the show (front row, dead center seats!!) in Hudson, NC, the night before, and were blessed to have great seats Friday night in Greensboro as well, as the guests of Rick Haynes! This is my first post, but I do intend to follow up with that tale!

I do want to commend you for the tactful way you mentioned in your post that "Lots of folks (too many!) were shouting out requests, so he didn't (couldn't) talk as much after intermission." I was really getting weary of one particular individual's interruptions and was just fastening my "Avenger's" cape around my neck (LOL), when...Gord quietly set him in his place by saying "we did that one second". Thankfully, we didn't hear much from that guy afterward!

Thanks again and take good care,
Bev

Bev,
I'm dying to know . . . Just how did you and your husband get to be the guests of Rick Haynes? Did you know him personally before these evnts transpired? If not, what did you do to so endear yourself to the esteemed bass player?

Hi Heather...no, we had never personally met any of the band members prior. Just so happens I posted that story last night. It's the "Back Here on Earth...sort of" topic.

Take good care,
Bev
