Default Re: CELEBRATION of Gordon Lightfoot @ Massey Hall-May 23 2024

Watched it on YouTube here in the States. That was nice that they made it available to US audiences on July 1, as well. I have YouTube Premium, so I don't have to suffer the annoying commercial interruptions of the free version. What a treat to re-live the Massey Hall concert. I've watched it from start to finish a number of times already. I was pleased to see Gordon's widow Kim smiling in the front row during one of the camera pans on 'Alberta Bound', a real "toe tapper", as Gord would say. I wasn't exactly sure if she was in attendance, but it stands to reason that she would be there. Highlights for me were: 'Looking at the Rain', 'The House You Live In', 'If You Could Read My Mind', 'The Way I Feel' and 'Alberta Bound', but of course, I enjoyed the whole show. I ordered (and received) the commemorative poster from the Massey Hall website when I returned home, as I was unable to get one at the show that night. I'm so glad I made the effort to come to Toronto, I really do enjoy visiting Canada!

The video had all but one tune - Meredith requested they cut OH SO SWEET because she messed up the lyrics.. I have it recorded tho..
Yes, Kim was there as was Liz and Cathy Coonley, Eric and his family, Bev's daughters and son Steve and a couple of her grandkids as well and Ingrid and Fred too.
Everyone was at the after party downstairs in the newly renovated bar so it was nice to say HI to several of them.
I spoke with Julian Taylor (All I'm After) too - so many people I spoke with cited his performance as a standout as did I. I saw him at one of the Lightfoot tribute shows at Hugh's Room and loved his voice - I have both of his tunes on my youtube channel - lightfootfan ..
I'm so glad that I've been able to attend 6 of the Lightfoot Band shows and enjoy spending time with the guys and their families - they are truly the best of the best people I know..
It was a night to remember!
