It's even more beautiful in person. The Grand Opera House is a great venue to see any show but especially Gord. The last time I was there was in June 2012 for my son's high school graduation. It's very intimate with not a bad seat in the house. The staff is super nice and helpful too which makes for a great concert experience. Not so great was that apparently we were seated in the "uptight" section with a lot of grumps nearby. I guess I've been spoiled in the past year or two to have been seated with some really cool Gord fans at the different shows.

Gord wasn't as talkative as he was in Penns Peak on 10/26 but seemed upbeat. He struggled a bit with Cotton Jenny but otherwise sounded great. He switched things up a lot with the songs/order so it makes for a fresher show imo. He wore the red jacket for the first set and the blue for the second so no surprises there. Here's the setlist:

The Watchman's Gone
Waiting For You
*band intros*
Don Q
I'd Rather Press On
APPT
Christian Island
Rainy Day People (a lot of applause)
Shadows
Beautifu
Carefree Highway
Cotton Jenny
Ribbon of Darkness
Sundown
Did She Mention My Name

-2-
Sweet Guinevere
The Wreck
Never Too Close
All the Lovely Ladies
Home From the Forest
Wild Strawberries
IF Children Had Wings
Let It Ride
IYCRMM
Restless
*joke*
Baby Step Back
Early Morning Rain
Song For a Winter's Night

In My Fashion -encore

No Now and Then last night - glad I got to hear it in Penns Peak. Oh and Carter did stand up for a song or two, I think for Sundown.

Thanks for the review, FL. The venue sure is beautiful. I think in the early days, after Gord's illness, we were all struggling to hear him sing and wanted absolute quiet. Now that his voice is so much stronger, it is nice to hoot and hollar a little. After all, we still have some life left in us and, honestly, it seems as though Gord really enjoys it. I have tremendous respect for the music and would never want in any way to be disruptive but it is just so nice to go to a Gord concert, extremely relaxed and just enjoy and appreciate the music that we have loved for so long. I will now descend from my soapbox! And yes, it is great to have that interaction with the photos. Makes it all seem so much closer.
Best,
CM

Lol and mine was in the school gym, so definitely not grand!

I'd buy that coffee table book for sure. Think you have an idea there.

Uptight section, eh? Sorry we couldn't make it - I love to educate people. As you all know I am always respectful and polite but c'mon man you're at a CONCERT!!! It is not a museum piece or a church service and we're all out to have some fun, right? Carter is also helpful in adding to the CONCERT feel by standing and playing once in awhile.

Anyway sorry for the late comment but glad you had a good time!

Bill
