Default Calling All Monty Python Fans

This thread was suggested by KathyNumberFour in the General Discussion Forum. What is your favorite Python sketch?

For us Python fans, this is as difficult as asking a Lighthead to name his favorite Lightfoot song. There are just too many brilliant ones to try and select only one. However, that is the challenge, so no multiple lists please!

A tough decision but I will go with "The Spanish Inquisition." This bit has me LMAO every time I see it! And now, for other fans choices....

Ah yes! "The Spanish Inquisition" (NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition....) It is THE classic Python sketch ! My favorite part of that one is when the victim is threatened with "the comfy chair" (Terry Gilliam's facial expressions in response to Michael Palin's threats are one of the funniest things about it, too!) I also love "The Argument Clinic", "The Lumberjack", "The Pirrhana Brothers"... I could go on and on. I own ALL of the Pythom albums (on vinyl), but I'd like to get the TV show on DVD if they're available. And then, of course, are the movies: "And Now for Something Completely Differrent", "The Holy Grail", "Life of Brian", "The Meaning of Life". (My favorite scene in "Life of Brian" is the throwing of the Holy Hand Grenade)

Another great comedy troupe (also a BIG favorite of mine) is The Kids in the Hall (AND they're Canadian--from Toronto, no less!!) Anyone want to start a KITH thread??

I'll have to say that my personal all time favourite sketchs were The Argument Clinic & How to Protect Yourself From Fresh Fruits. It's the one where Cleese is trying to teach a group of recruits how to protect themselves from fresh friuts & veggies, and ever so often Eric Idle pops up with the bit about defending ones self from pointy sticks. That routine in particular had me laughing so hard that I almost couldn't catch my breath.

I can also remember when a group of my fellow high school students performed the routine for a school talent show & even then, it was STILL so hilarious that I nearly had an accident.
