understand Gord's interest in a thread, since the album also included choral
backup from members of the Jordanaires (Elvis) SSOL,and thus was consistent
with the project.
That whole session was exciting. Red Shea and I having a drink (or two)
with Chet Atkins. Meeting the incredible session musicians of Nashville.
Hargus Robbins giving Red and me a pint of his own white lightning. (still
the biggest thrill of all)

It was pretty hard to differentiate I found but I concluded it was "Pick" but Richard did say

Pick a potato would have his lips come together like when he says potato..he didn't put his lips together- his lips don't meet when he says 'take'... ..and you can hear the 't' sound in take.. You can't make a 'p' sound without putting your lips together..

one reason i really like this live version of SSOL, is 'cos i was never keen on the wallofsound choral "ahhhhs" found on the studio recording

similarly, i was never a Fan of the "take or pick or lick a potata" cadence either in studio or live and would have instead enjoyed Red providing his own rhythmic instrumental backdrop for that segment...all the more reason i really like the arrangement JP Cormier came up with...all that aside, TIYS is a real fave of mine

i'd like to have heard a version of It's Too Late, He Wins minus the doowops

speaking of lips, Gord has terrific and expressive command during his Steel Rail yodels

You can also try to see if your dvd player can be 'converted' to mult-region player.

Yes young man burnng a vob file directly to a DVD only creates a Data DVD (in the same way that copying audio (wav) files to a blank CD creates a Data CD)

Hey, got a question. I downloaded the 4.7 gb dvd of Kill Bill and i got this: a video_ts folder containing VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, VTS_01_3, VTS_01_4, VIDEO_TS.bup, VIDEO_TS.ifo, VIDEO_TS_01_0.bup, VIDEO_TS_01_0.ifo.
How do I burn this to a watchable DVD with all of the menus and stuff in place? Thanks.

You can burn your VIDEO_TS to DVD with freeware tool ImgBurn.

I was very pleased to find this answer because I had recently found and very sucessfully used Imgburn when faced with the need to burn a DVD from a single ISO image file
But had I not realised that it could also create a DVD from a video_ts folder as downloaded for the 1972 concert DVD.Instead I had burnt a DVD using the otherwise excellent Aussie Express Burn that I highly recommend for burning gapless concert audio CDs. But I had noted error mesages and sure enough the resultant DVD does not play in all of my DVD players but plays fine with full rich sound in my secondary DIVX certified DVD player and had the downloaded files had no sound when played in Windows Media Player on my PC.
I had then burnt a coaster using the usually dependable Nero.
Both it and the Expess Burn one would not load in our main DVD player but only indicated "stop" not very helpful at all.

well I have tried Nero,Ashampoo,Windows and nothing is burning a copy.
I can't recall all of the error messages...
Someone is sending me a copy from the utorrent thing.
I have a copy but it doesn't play on my computer, just the tv..I got it from England...

I hate computers.

Yes I for one have. My second DVD (burnt using the freeware program imgburn from the downloaded 1.91GB video_ts folder plays perfectly on two of my available DVD players with perfect sound thank goodness whereras:my first effort using Express Burn burnt with errors and had no sound whatsoever in our main player. see the fine imgburn tutorial at:-
there should be no question of needing to convert the set of Visual OBject files *.vob. (although you could use the delightfully named SUPER © Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer.freeware conversion program)
In fact every DVD if you look at its file and folder content comprises two folders
a dummy empty one named AUDIO_TS and the ubiquitous VIDEO_TS
and most if not all DVD burning programs encourage you to add the VIDEO_TS folder

I can now add that although the grievious question of the designated region coding of a DVD remains (I have had to change the setting of one internal DVD drive on my computer to Region 2 expressly to play UK sourced videos I now get in order to be able to use DVDDecryptor to rip the vob fileset to my hard drive with any region or other coding etc discarded and then I can use those files to burn a DVD that is then suitable for my purposes .However I think there is one DVD player in our family that had a problem with one Australin PAL DVD so as I intend trying to play the PAL 1972 concert DVD on it I will soon have confirmation
