Terry Whelan

i feel terrible either way on this:

today, i heard that he passed away this week

if this is a false rumour then i apologize and feel terrible for posting (but will be pleased he's well), can anyone confirm?

regardless, before the night's through i'm going to listen to the Two Tones in private with sadness, yet wearing a big smile

Jimbo,
is this true? Can we check this out?

Well, I checked legacy.com, and there's nothing there, a hopeful sign....

Found this in the Orillia Packet & Times obits. No mention of Gord or the Two Tones but he sang barbershop in high school as did Gord.

Terry Whelan, of Washago, beloved husband & best friend of Susan St. Onge. Father of Shea (Lara) Whelan and step-father of Jennifer (Marty) Pepper & Katelyn (Brandon) Mitchell. Grand-father of Liam, Ryan, Cameron&Jackson. Brother of Lynn (Howard) Hamilton. Predeceased by parents Thomas &

Terry had a special love of music which started early in his life with
barbershop singing while in highschool. This led him to local theatre art groups and he was later a harmony singer with the Tom deMoraes Orchestra & the Glenn Miller Band. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation made to any local youth musical organization would be gratefully appreciated. As per Terry's request, following cremation there will be a Private Family Memorial Service held at a later date. Messages of condolence are welcome

thanks AA... yeah, very sad, bru
Bob Burchill (longtime folk musician) said some nice words yesterday at his GL Tribute

i ended up listening to a Jim Reeves comp after the Two Tones early this morn... he always makes me think of Gordon and Terry http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

coincidentally, i'm just off to Orillia to visit family and friends ...not far from Washago ...ironically, John recently posted a wonderful pic in another thread http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif

when i chatted to my mother about this she mentioned that i was born while the boys were recording the Village Corner sessions

what a week, so inspirational for songwriting

Yes this is true. Sorry to say. I am a friend of his daughter-in-law. He passed away quietly about two weeks ago.

I am so sorry. I am sure we would want to send our condolences to his family - please tell Terry's d-in-l.
