As many of you know, folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is coming to The Victory Theatre on September 30th. I had a chance to sit down for a phone interview with Mr. Lightfoot recently and the conversation turned to a range of topics – his music, his near fatal abdominal aneurysm, the recent death of his manager of 25 years, and the music business in general.
As a News-4U first, we are presenting an MP3 of that interview, complete with phone noise and my stammering line of questions. There were a couple spots where a technical glitch caused the conversation to be inaudible both on the tape and between the two of us, which will explain some of the weird conversational transitions, but these interruptions were brief and Mr. Lightfoot remained very lucid and cordial throughout, even if I did not. ;)

:cool: Thanks for posting the interview.
He talked some about the time in '82 or '81 when he walked off the stage in London. Was that at the beginning, middle or the end of the concert? Just how loaded was he? Maybe he could have felt more like doing the concert if someone would have brought him a barstool. ;)

Thanks for posting the interview link. Very enjoyable. The man definitely has a nimble mind....from his fascination with the U.S. elections to his fondness of Cat Stevens' music (the latter was news to me).

Hi, Everyone. I really enjoyed the interview. I am very grateful that Elizabeth, Gord's wife, had the presence of mind, to tell the doctors he couldn't have the tubes rubbing his vocal for six weeks. That might have destroyed his voice! As he said , I have my wife to thank for that! I'd like to add my thanks to her. I was planning on being at both pf the Mass. shows, but I will not be able to see him at all this year. Thosde of you fortunate enough to attend any concert, please keep sending us any and all information on concerts. Thanks so much!
